Wiper Re-paint

Is this a straight forward job to remove i want to get it repainted.

Scrape the remaining paint off, paint it with some rust treatment and run some satin black paint over it yourself.

Would unscrew the bolts first so they don't seize up but nothing you couldn't do yourself while the part is on the car.

p.s. looks like Torx T30 screws - wouldn't remove the wiper arm however it's a simple wrench job to the silver part if you want to.

I looked at a 2007 DB9 a couple of weeks ago, it had the exact same problem !

It's usually the bottom of the wiper arm itself.

Powder coating would look better so im prepared to remove it im just worried what the screws are holding.
Have visions of the motor dropping into the scuttle area.
I assume that is the motor underneath.
Looks like its a water drain area off the wiper so it collects.
On the brightside its the only rot i can find on a 5 year old car

If you want to go to that trouble/expense then you might as well let a garage dismantle it all and powdercoat for you.

RE removing - I can't for one minute imagine they are holding screws, more than likely just securing, therefore if you whip them off I don't think you'll 'drop' the motor beneath.

As i bought the car like this (i didn't spot it) i guess the answer would be no.
If i can't remove the plate easily i will paint it in situ.

I had mine replaced under warranty on a 2007 DB9 (when it was within the warranty period, so couple of years back), along with the screws holding the lock keep (also corroded) and various other screws in the engine bay. The corrosion/abrasion on the suspension strut was a no go though.

IIRC it is part of the window mount.
First roadster I looked at was the same, these cars don't like living outside.

IIRC the wiper motor on the DB9 is an absolute bd to change.
When we did the Gaydon tour I seem to rememeber them crowing about a "Ford virtual technician" that ran scenarios to change every part before they built the car. In the process they discovered the wiper motor change was an engine out job, which they corrected before they built it!
I don't think that was run on the DB9, but I could be wrong.

That's hardly a fatal issue though, is it.

This and the issue around door handles are pretty much the only bits that go awry and are easily fixed (though it's annoying Aston don't stand by them - the door handle thing is a design/production quality issue).

Chiltern Aston Centre supply a powder coated stainless steel version and it takes minutes to fit. It was the first thing I did when I bought my '07 V8V. I don't seem to remember that it was hideously expensive.

Very simple, I did mine just before I sold it.

Remove the nut on the wiper arm and apply a little pressure evenly under the wiper arm to 'pop' it off the stubby shaft that it is attached to. Then remove the 4 torx screws. I also removed the other part of the wiper arm and took it completely off as the paint had peeled off this also and needed some TLC.

The 4 torx screws hold the plate to a thicker metal unit on the end of the motor and the plate is only to connect this to the wiper arm. I rubbed mine down with Wet & Dry and used a primer and satin black to re-paint; It looked good as new. Powder coating would be even better, but it looked good to me..

I think that is the most hassle free way and it will never give a problem again. If you are an AMOC member they give you 10% discount I seem to remember.
