Had been noticing a bit of condensation in the car but just put it down to the weather we had had before Christmas, very wet and car parked outside near the sea. Just came back from a weeks holiday and found the rear passenger footwell with a fair sized puddle of water, checked round the car but couldn't see any obvious leak, car has been outside in storms and 80mph winds so I am sure this has not helped.

Have soaked up a fair bit but still very damp, the car is still under warranty so hopefully I'll be able to sort things out. I also suspect there must be a fair amount of damp under the carpet.

Anyone else had problems like this?

No, and I haven't heard of anyone else with a leak on a VXR8. Initial suspects must be the window slightly open, or a bad door gasket.

I have noticed water getting in through the rear passenger window , twice when washing the car it has happened. The window was not fully up, no one sits in the back usally so it did seem odd , coincidence ?

Yes it is a problem............had it on my old one.Front and rear footwells filled up. Picadors said there was no problem until I left it with them when it was raining, they told me to take the car as they could not find a fault but when I dragged them out to the car park and lifted the carpet for them "hey presto" they changed their minds..........Its down to a faulty rubber seal around the front window/mirror. Well thats what they told me and it solved the problem............Trust this helps..

Its a known problem so don't let them fob you off, providing its still under warranty.............

It leaks in down the front doors and runs under the seats, I know I had to dry it out a number of times....

Thanks folks, windows were defenitely up and cannot see any obvious moisture tracks inside, boot is bone dry. I am trying to dry it out just now, have air con on and car ticking over, any other ideas? Will have a closer look at the seals in daylight tomorrow.

Not had this problem. Only place I could think that you havent checked is the location where the pollen filter would be - on the nearside under the windscreen grill you can remove the plastic cover - if its loose, water could get in easy and flow into the car I would imagine.

I've only ever removed mine to vacuum out the crud that sits underneath where the pollen filter would be, but its just a grill - cant explain how it would reach the rear seat though unless its gone underneath the carpet?

Doesn't do anything to answer your question, but I was at the Whangie just this morning with a friend.

LOL!

Haven't been then for a while, just like the sound of the name. Sounds like I'll give Vauxhall a ring tomorrow, is there only one vxr8 specialist in Glasgow? The Mount Vernon one? Arnold Clarks.

Phoned today, sounded helpful, have no previous reports of leaks but don't really see alot of vxr8s. Will take it in and dry it out and see if they can locate problem. Also mentioned a £250 initial labour fee to identify fault and check if it is under warranty. Does this sound about right?

Tell 'em to fek off! There's water in the footwell, and you didn't tip it there, so it needs sorting under warranty. 5 minutes for them to look, then they can apply for approval from Vx before starting - but there's no way that they should require anything from you.
