Kuwait debut for finished Aston Martin V12 Zagato

Production version of handbuilt Aston special to get Middle-Eastern unveil

The production version of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato is to get its official debut in a fortnight at the Kuwait Concours d'Elegance.

The V12 Zagato, which was first revealed in concept form at the Villa d'Este show in Italy last year and which has also taken a turn at the Nurburgring 24-hour race, will be built in a limited run of 150 cars.

If you fancy one (and we assume that if you do you probably already have a deposit down), you'll need £330,000 to get hold of an Aston Martin V12 Zagato. And that's before the local taxman adds to the bill.

Customer deliveries of the 517hp, 420lb ft special begin late in 2012. In the meantime, we're just looking forward to seeing exactly what the finished version looks like. Outside and in...

What is it with Zagato and leaving massive gaping holes in things? That slash behind the front wheels just makes it look like it's been in some kind of side on collision!

Zagato - making money for many years by taking attractive cars and making them uglier

If Aston aren't careful, they could do a Rover. Spending too much time on expensive specials and not looking after the mainstream money making stuff.

I thought that. What's different compared to the standard DBS/V12V engine?

Quite an expensive visual makeover considering they are making so many.

Just a pistonheads typographical error....

"Combining traditional craftsmanship and high technology, the V12 Zagato also boasts Aston Martin’s most dynamic bonded aluminium platform and the power of the company’s acclaimed 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510 bhp (380 kW / 517 PS), and 570 Nm (420 lb ft) of torque. "

I saw the Zagato driving down the M4 a few months ago (pressumably the test mule).
By god it was ugly in the flesh, and I'm a huge Aston fan.

I think they should have made the original like this. What a nice looking car to be stranded in at the side of the road.

Aston seem to really be taking their eye of the off the ball lately. Every two years they restyle one of their two basic cars that have now been with us for almost a decade (DB9 and Vantage), call it a new model and put it on sale along with all the other outdated and superseded versions. The engine in this should have been replaced about three years ago, the 'new' Virage should have been a DB9 mid-life restyle and the Rapide should have been an estate (fixes the DB9's four-seats-that-are-too-small problem by offering four seats that are too small in a slightly uglier and even slower package)

Apologies for getting overexcited but Aston's product plan really riles me. Don't even mention the Cygnet.

It's pretty simple they haven't got a pot to piss in.

Is that some sort of attempted humour saying Astons are unreliable? Maybe previous ones were, but Gaydon era ones most certainly aren't.
