I’m led to believe that all Porsche 996’s should have an Options Sticker under the front bonnet (and in the handbook). If these are missing is it possible to obtain a replacement sticker, or at least, find out what options were fitted to the car?

I’ve found a couple of resources in the USA that allows me to obtain this information, such a search with a cardex report where you supply the vin number. Is it possible to obtain something similar in the UK?

Many thanks in advance

Just to sumarise the information in this thread to help people in the future:

Options Stickers

- Cars came with 3 stickers from the factory , one in service book, one under the bonnet and one for supplying agent
- Only evidence of it being possible to have the stickers re-issued was an OPC sourcing one from Stuttgart apparently.
- Not all 2005 cars had stickers under the bonnet (with specific examples of GT3 and 'Turbo S' being sighted.

Official Evidence of Options on a Car

- Can obtain an official certificate of authenticity from Porsche for your car at a cost of £65 link
- OPC can print you a copy of original build spec sheet which confirms all engine/chassis/reg numbers/options etc...no charge involved

Decoding VIN number to find out Options

- GT3 on 911uk will apparently do this for you if you pm him (however he won’t do it for you unless you’re an active member of their forums) http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=59653
- If you're a "contributing" member at RennTech, Loren (the admin) will decode you VIN and send you a complete breakdown of all of the options that we originally included on the car. All you have to do is send him a PM.

Hi - it's quite common for these to become faded/worn over time, but I'm surprised its not there at all. An identical label should be stuck on the inside cover of the service record book, but if it's not there either I'd be a bit concerned.

You can get all of the details of the original spec from Porsche themselves for a 'mere' £60.

Does anyone know if you can get a replacement sticker from Porsche, as my underbonnet one is a little tired?

Do you have any details (phone number / web link) as to how I can get this information direct from Porsche for £60?

I think that there will be a duplicate sticker in the service book at the front. This should list all option codes.

I assume that you have used this: VIN Decoder and you know the options but need the sticker - if not click away.

Hi Fernando

I am quite interested in running my VIN number against the link you posted. However, it is asking for a customer number which I don't have. Do you have another such link that would allow me to do the same?

Many thanks

you could follow this link and ask GT4 who seems to have a source

OPC printed me a copy of original build spec sheet of my car which confirmed all engine/chassis/reg numbers/options etc...no charge involved. I needed this when DVLA managed to nause up details on V5.

Hi Erics

The car I have is a 2005 911 Turbo. Your post would explain why the sticker is missing from my car. Do you have a link to any official information explaining why 2005 cars didn't have this sticker?

Cheers

There wasn't one present on my previous 996 GT3 but there was a good resson for that - it'd had a new bonnet previously smile

As Eric mentioned, to my knowledge 996 GT3s from 2005 did not have this sticker. Earlier cars without one needed investigating as it could mean a replacement bonnet. I assume this would be the same for cooking 996 models.

Is it only 996's that had the stickers or all Porsche's?

My OPC said no stickers on 2005 MY 996 - or 997 thereafter.
Some 2005 registered 996 2004 models may have them ( GT3s or turbos mostly I would expect)

My 2011 Boxster S has a sticker under the bonnet but came without one in the service book for some reason. OPC eventually sourced one from Stuttgart apparently.
