Yes, I do.

I did a write up about it some time ago, luckily I kept a copy on file, sorry if it tells you more than you need to know....

The rubber gaiter is a Ford part, number 6112048, but I bought mine from TVR Power. The same gaiter is used for both the handbrake and gear lever.

The following describes how I replaced it.

Step 1.
Next the gear lever knob must be removed by sliding the leather gaiter downwards, then using some grips, with padding, to undo the lock ring which secures the gear knob. Then remove the leather gaiter, and also the leather gaiter from the handbrake after first pulling off the rubber grip.

Step 2.
The handbrake cable must be fully backed off to that the handbrake lever can be lifter into a vertical position (the handbrake adjuster is on the driver’s side between the wishbone and diff).

Step 3.
The T shaped tunnel cover is fixed by bolts at the rear end, each side of the tunnel. Once these have been undone the tunnel cover must be raised up and slightly pulled backwards to pass over the handbrake and gearlever. At this point you will also need to disconnect the various wiring plugs and then manipulate the tunnel cover to the rear of the car – I left the door opening cables attached.

Step 4.
Now you should be able to see a rubber gaiter for the handbrake and another for the gearlever. These are riveted to a fibreglass panel which is screwed/sealed to the transmission tunnel, it may also be covered in sound deadening foam. Remove the screws and lever off the cover.

Step 5.
With the cover removed you can drill out the pop-rivets to remove the gaiters. They may appear to be two different parts, but in fact they are both gearlever gaiters but the one for the handbrake has been trimmed to size. I found it quite easy to trim the new handbrake gaiter to size by comparing it to the old one.

Step 6.
Refitting is quite straightforward and is more or less the reverse of the removal procedure, however, while you have the cover off it is a good idea to check the handbrake lever bolts for tightness, and the remote gearlever bolts/bushes for slackness. New bushes, balljoint, and other parts are available from The TVR Shop or TVR Power.

The gaiters fitted, the handbrake gaiter looks too vertical here, but with time the handbrake will cause it to fold forward…

Mr Matter - I remember reading that now, I should have bookmarked it. Just what I needed.

Thank you for your help.
