Hi

I have recently changed the insurance company that I use for my Chimaera (time for renewal)

The new insurance company have asked for proof that the car has a thatcham approved alarm/imobiliser, any ideas?

The chimaera has the standard stuff fitted by the factory?

Has anyone been asked to supply this info? what did you do?

I've checked through the paperwork I got when I bought the car a couple of years ago, nothing in there.

Cheers

Liam

In "The Bible" there is a copy of the factory letter outlining the install of the factory Meta system.

Checking through the paper work on my car, someone in the past had paid for a check on my car to verify the imobilser.... which details make, model/tatcham category... I've had few companies ask for make/model before so I've just given them info off report (thatcham 2 IIRC), most are happy with a factory fit being quoted.

My info probably no good though as security is a mixture of Gemeni alarm, meta imoboliser on a 92 car...

Brilliant, Thanks for the replies guys.

My car is a 2001 so the letter in the Bible is just what I need (I hope).

I knew I'd seen something somewhere, I've been through all the paperwork I received with the car three times trying to find a letter.

Thanks again.

Be careful, because as I understand it the alarm system is not Thatcham approved as it was not fitted by a Thatcham approved organisation (the factory was never approved by Thatcham). So the alarm system meets the Thatcham 1 requirements but it is not Thatcham approved. That's what I tell my insurer (or something pretty similar, as I don't have the exact words with me at the moment).

So for a fee, a Thatcham approved installer could 'validate' your alarm/immob installation ? Is this a service Carl Baker (Car&Bike Installations) offers ?

Hi Andy

You couldn't email me a copy through my profile could you?

Your version is more up to date than the version in the bible.
