More than a bit bemused at the TVRCC's lack of performance on this for this year Only one TVRCC Track Day this year (Cadwell July 30th). No Oulton Park? Is Sean not there anymore? Did someone fall asleep? Not being funny but 1 track day for the year is pretty naff.

Ok, I will bite.
The truth is they struggle to fill them. Bernie organises Cadwell, He and his volunteer helpers spend a hell of a lot of time getting people to sign up. If the day is not filled...The club loses lots of money! - It is a sad fact that a club with 6000 members struggles to fill 60 places on a track day. It wasnt always like this. I remember the days of at least 6 track days in a year!
It has got to the point that the club just reserves places on other peoples days(Bookatrack I think)...because they struggle to raise 20 or 30 cars.

The Cadwell Park TVRCC track day last years was well busy, at least 60 cars there iirc, but not all TVRs tho - I think the advert was changed to say 'get ur buddies to sign up'

But that was NOT the case the week before the trackday. I think Bernie was at least 20 short with a week to go and staring down the barrel of a huge loss. It was only heroic efforts and the fact that loads of people nagged mates to go(with none TVR's)..that the number was reached.

I also find it sad that the club struggles to fill these places, i love track days full stop but they are even better when full of fellow TVR's I wonder what percentage of TVR owners actually push there cars to or close to the limit and appreciate the fact that its a driver car, over those that are more interested in how in looks and the condition of the flip paint etc, in fact apart from an obvious few [orange sag spring to mind], i do not see that many minters at the track!! Now retreating to cover

There are always nice cars out at the track days I have attended. Some of them don't hang around either TVR Car club track days are amongst the best track days you will attend in the UK if you're looking for a fun track day with like minded folk.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first track day at Oulton Park in 2010 with TVRCC and have been looking to do more. Struggled to make the dates last year and Cadwell is a date clash for me this year. I know that Kiddo looked at Silverstone last year from and RO perspective but the concessions were virtually non-existent and the cost was stupidly prohibitive.

Really enjoyed Cadwell Park last year and phoned to book the Brands Hatch one also later in the year but was told they'd cancelled as not enough people had signed up Personally I love putting my TVR on track, there amazing to drive and feel really sorted, even for my limited ability!

This is the best run trackday at the best track in the best cars (all in my humble opinion, of course), we should all sign up immediately. It's even in the summer so those TVR owners that don't like to go out in the rain can come too.

I love the TVR CC track events. Sadly, there are no longer enough of us who think the same. It would be an option maybe to buddy up with another car club ( lotus/noble/Westfield ) to share the day. It's been done before with some success I understand.
The car club annual trip to Cadwell is still my best car day of the year, just awesome fun.

Having read this thread (and a TVRCC member) I have to say 'hands up' that this dedicated track day has passed me completely by and I don't know why ! Maybe, as there is a lot of coverage in the magazine with regard to the Sprint Championship and the Dunlop Challenge, it got lost.
Edited to say - I have just looked at February issue of Sprint and there is no mention of this event (but happy to be corrected). Even Pages 10/11 titled 'TVRs on track' has no mention of Cadwell Park on 30th July ! Maybe food for thought for organisers.

Thanks to those people who have said nice things about the annual TVRCC track day at Cadwell. There will be a full page advert in Sprint in hopefully the April issue; and then the May and June issues.
To anybody thinking about attending, perhaps B&B it the previous Sunday night in Louth, as there is a get together for an italian meal and/or in the pub, so it hopefully becomes a more social gathering too. Then a lot of non-trackdaying TVR owners come down on the actual day to watch and there is no charge for entry to the circuit to do so.
We'd like to do more days, but as stated above: circuit hire is very expensive; there is not much interest from the general Club members; and the day is run at cost for the members benefit, where we limit the number of cars on track to 22-24 tops per session, so it doesn't make a profit (or a lose)for the Club, so the Club committee aren't that interested in it either.

Well I'm sold on that idea... but sounds like we really need to drum up support so we can get more Tivs out... and hopefully eventually more TVRCC Track Days..
Have you thought about a big poster thing at Chatsworth, and perhaps flyers to hand out to every car on entry ?

We had thought about doing it on the Monday after the Chatsworth gathering, but the track wasn't avialble to us. In the past we did a competition on here to win a free place, but very few people actually entered. So now-a-days promotion is down to the adverts in the Club magazine; a couple of TVR dealers who try and get their customers to attend; and word of mouth on the forums. So it's useful when you guys come on here and talk about it and hopefully cajoule some of your mates into stop polishing; and start using their cars.
For anybody who is reading this and not done a trackday before, one of the group sesssions is for novices and there is free instruction and an extra novice only briefing session. (You'll also find most of the other people who attend are friendly and good with advice and tips on tracking your TVR.) Our head instructors race a TVR; and we even have a female instructor for any lady TVR owners out there who don't want to be told what to do by a bloke!
I'll mention flyers for Chatsworth to Bernie who is the main organiser and see what he thinks.

Like the fliers idea at Chatsworth. Just another thought. 30th July is right at the start of the school summer holidays so this probably has an impact on attendance for those of us with kids etc. Pathetic excuse I know. Just a reason for advertising ASAP and earlier in the year next year before holiday plans have been made and paid !

Would it be more feasible to share a day with another Car Club or TDO? You would only need to find 20-30 attendees as apposed to the full whack! Easier to organise & less risk too. Would be nice to do Donington sometime in Spring Just a thought

Well I can highly recommend the day, especially to Novices. It was my first ever track day, the briefing session and *free* 20mins instructor session were both very good, and the drivers were split into advanced, intermediate and novice, so we weren't being buzzed by faster drivers all the time.
A very good day at a decent price iirc.
Do consider teaming up with another club, like Lotus, as I'm sure both clubs (or more) can benefit by having more events run at a better price around different tracks.
Cheers.
