Can someone tell me how I can use the sat nav effectively please? At the moment it wont let me enter a full postcode or a street name I want. Seems a pity I'm having to use my portable 'navigon' sat nav. confused
It's on my recently bought '08 Mercedes Vito Brabus sport-X.

Cheers bloke, it's a COMAND system and fitted to a Brabus sport-X Vito, so it seems from the helpful link of yours to be the NTG2. Still confused as it only seems to accept 4 digits for the postcode, then goes to town, then doesn't list all streets confused
I came to a 't' junction the weekend and the mercedes sat nav said turn left, my portable 'navigon' sat nav said turn right. So I looked left and it wasn't suitable for road vehicles, then turned right and got there. Disappointing if I have to use the portable one. Anything I can do to improve or just don't use it?

You need to see if its the latest CD for the SatNav, if the car/van thing is older than 3years
We upgraded our CD on a SL55amg and comand was a different beast

I would enter engineering mode and find out what firmware and software you have, but I am guessing you need

WOW, thanks! much appreciated. Are the upgraded discs that good? Would they solve my problem? I just want to be able to enter a full post code and get there, can't understand why mercedes can't do it and other cheap options can.

You can get cheap 'backup copies' of the upgrade disks from ebay, but it is a high risk option, COMAND is allegedly extremely fussy about the DVD media, and the illegal ones often end up borking the unit. allegedly...

On the SL55AMG the comand sat nav was rubbish, did the upgrade and it was night and day, dynamic traffic rerouting TMC feature added , postcodes etc its very good now

This is my experience for a SL55 AMG , remember there are many versions of comand installed and the software version you are running depends and what age the vehicle.. do your research on the sites shown and good luck

Last tip
I Bought a 2010 cd from a main MB dealer in 2011, ( they wanted to get rid because 2011 vers available )
I paid 1/2 price
