Still settling into my '06 111r and at higher speeds (ahem 80+) the steering feels a little vague and I'm getting some mild vibration.
I've had both front wheels balanced a couple of weeks ago. I did notice however that the strip of weights on one wheel are lifting just a little as the tape has lost its grip, but only a little and if that would create the slight wobble I don't know...I doubt it.
I've noticed a split rubber on the nearside track rod end and I have a new set to go on when someone gets under the arches. Whether that would account for any loss of steering feel I don't know.
The system feels tight from the steering wheel in terms of transferring to the wheels and seems free from slack.
The tyres are fairly new.
Perhaps it all just needs a geo?
Thank you.
Nick

Check your toe links for wear, in the rear of the car. As these wear they can cause "vagueness" and weaving at speed. Google it you will find many, many threads on this.
Steering racks do wear, but if you say yours feels tight, it's unlikely to be that.
Don't underestimate the effect an unbalanced wheel can have on an elise, it's such a light car where the unsprung mass makes up a larger than "normal" proportion of the vehicle mass, that any imbalance can have a large effect.

The steering does get a bit vague at high speeds - aerodynamics and the front end going a bit light.

Thank you all.
I'm looking in to getting it geo'd and replace any worn parts and will go from there.

I think there is appreciable front end lift at 80+ on Elises without the bigger front splitters. It is noticeable on my S2 sport 190 compared to my old S2 Exige.

Just had a blat on the motorway tonight which is uncommon for me and the Elise. At (ahem 90mph) there is a definite shake at the wheel and to my mind it feels a little vague in the steering. As I say both front (and more recently the rears) are balanced up.
