Recommend me some discs / pads...
Discussion
I'm going to upgrade my front brakes soon (MG ZT CDTi, fitting ZT 190 calipers - same as you'd find on an e46 330i), so need some new discs and pads.
Wondering what the PH masses recommend?
It's a heavy car (~1600KG), and I want good braking performance from cold - I don't really work the brakes hard, and it's for road not track use.
I did have a look on eBay but it seems the selection is really small (or at least, all the ones that claim to fit the 190 are actually for the brakes I already have - they need to be 325mm).
OE pads are £65, but I can't seem to find OE discs for any less than an arm and a leg...
Suggestions?

The 325mm ones that I need are £229, which is IMO! Plus, I've never heard of "Rossini" before...I only paid £38 for my rear discs! (Brembos)
On various cars I've had over the years, I always end up replacing the braking system and the suspension. I like my cars to stop and handle well.
I've found a good combination for a reasonable price, is Brembo replacement discs with Mintex 1144 pads.
The pads are 'fast road' but give great cold braking performance as well as being pretty fade-free at higher speeds.

OEM discs and pads from Euro Car Parts or your favourite motor factor - Pagid, Mintex, Jurid, Textar, whatever they have. If you're not driving it hard, good quality standard parts should do the job.
I don't know why, but I have some irrational fear of "budget" brakes.I would go for OE discs - but they are £100. Each...

BMW don't make brakes. They buy brakes off Textar, Bosch, or whoever is cheapest. The brakes you buy in the dealer are the same things in a BMW box. You're paying for someone putting them in the box, and for the parts department, the showroom....I would go for OE discs - but they are £100. Each...
BMW Direct, OEM, £77 for a pair of front discs for the 330i e46 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine-Front-Brake-...
I know eurocarparts and other probably stock identical gear badged as something else which is supplied to BMW but for peace of mind, if you want the genuine BMW kit, this is direct from BMW and includes their 1 year warranty.
I would second the use of Mintex pads.

Thanks for the link, but unfortely while the calipers & pads are the same (I would presume - the calipers 100% are), the discs are different as the ZT has a different wheel PCD...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
