Hi, I've been lurking on the site for some timing and a few months ago I bought Grant Neal's excellent "The Definitive Guide to Aston Martin." While the book had a list price of £19.99 it soon became apparent that I had lit the fuse on an even larger investment.

I've been fortunate to have had a stream of Porsche's starting in 1985 with a 911 Carrera S in forest green and savanna leather, my first one. I enjoyed the 968CS in speed yellow (the Missus didn't), the classic 911 Carrera SC with the whale tail and then a few 996 Carreras. Kids arrive, traffic in London is dire so I spend the next 15yrs on motorbikes, mainly GSAdventures, riding the Ring, Alaska and through Morocco. Then, I retired from bikes in December, another itch had developed that needed scratched.

My neighbour had let me drive his Vanquish and I was smitten. In October last year I hired a DB9 for the week and was amazed. No Porsche ever left me with this sense of enjoyment. So, and just to be sure, we considered and tested the R8, 911GTS, GTR, M3, M5 but 3wks ago I bought a 2010 AMV8 Vantage, manual, meteorite grey with sports seats, sports pack and 4100 miles from new. I will need a plastic surgeon to remove the grin.

This site has proved invaluable and I hope to add my experiences to it.

Regards

Jeremy

Fabulous car Jeremy - interesting that you were smitten by the DB9 but you opted for the Vantage !! You certainly got more for your money, and I love the clear rears and front vents.

Interesting also to see who wears the trousers chez Jeremy by the positioning of the elbow rest smile

It was a tough call between the Vantage and DB9. Living in London, the DB9s semi auto gear box and paddles would be ideal. But, the looks, handling, running costs and pricing of the Vantage stood out. My Vantage cost, wait for it, £104,000 2yrs ago and I paid £63,500 with a 12month AM wty.

As for the elbow rest, the adrenalin of driving it has made be oblivious to any discomfort.

Yeah, they'd suit yours very nicely Mr T... and so would some sports pack wheels!

Lovely car and great spec with Sports Pack and the lightweight sports seats.

They are on my wish list along with a 5 bar grille.

Very nice.

What's that padded bit in front of the arm rest, next to the release lever?

Very Nice. Only one thing, lower the front number plate for total perfection!

Now that looks lovely. The clear rear lights and wheels do it for me. I find those wheels are so much easier to clean than a lot of the other designs (not advertising....).

Enjoy it mate.
