Gullwings, any fellow owners on here?
Discussion
Hi guys,
I have had my Gullwing a while now.
She still has the original leather from the 50s, when I bought her it was patinated but not tatty however after a fair few miles and years the stiching has sadly given up by the sills.
Should I retrim or just leave it? It's a difficult one!
I want to leave it but don't want it to look shabby.
If I do retrim who are the best guys? Anyone on here had a Gullwing retrim. If the trim isn't correct I know I will be disappointed.

Can we see some pics? Love these cars.
+1I too believe you should do as little as you can get away with.
If the seats become awful then retrim completely. If not, may be leave it alone or go restitching.
As well as the aforemention MB Classic Centre, it may be worth contacting HK Engineering.
They appear to be an authority on all things W198 Gullwing and Roadster.

I understand Ivan Ratcliffe Page is the doyen of these wonderful cars in the UK , having sold them new , and still involved in them .
Spare a thought though for owners of Gullwing replicas ; Mercedes is in the process of destroying those it locates through the courts ! There's nothing like protecting the brand ....
