You see, now I love that but at the same time it makes me a little bit sad, to hear that some of the cars including the F40 have only been driven to get an MOT just seems like a waste. Yes I know he is a very busy man and has a very successful company to run but his story seems to be typical of guys like him with large car collections, a number of which don’t get driven

Based on the famous Fifth Gear tour around his garage, the guy is a genuine enthusiast - I'm sure you'll know better than me about his Zondas, for example. But it does seem that, the larger the collection, the less the cars actually get used. Saywell admitted in the Fifth Gear clip that he hadn't driven the Carrera GT at the time, hope he has by now!

Makes me slightly sad to hear that cars like the F40, GT40 and Carrera GT only get trips to the MOT station and back every year. Ok, I guess the F40 is a classic that is appreciating but it should still be used more than that, surely? The Carrera GT and GT40 are modern cars which should be able to cope with the use easily.

At what point does a collection become too big? The Aventador and R8 GT haven't even been driven by him yet according to that article. The guy is going to have a VERY fun retirement though hehe Wake up, breakfast, go to the garage "Hmm, which car shall I take out first?" and repeat biggrin

I'll volunteer to do the annual MOT trips. I might take the long way though, via Italy. biggrin

Good Afternoon

Just checked and I've done 167 Miles since last August in the 997 GT3 CS (and even less on several M/Cycles) - This ain't right and just going to give myself a serious talking to!

Mind you if I was sat on all that metal just looking at it / polishing it would probably be enough!!!

if the car starts!! such disuse really is not good... assuming he only starts it for the service/MOT, given he is so busy, one year with no oil circulation!!

Seems like a very likeable chap. I love the look of the Aventador....not seen one in white before, it looks superb!

Its a shame they dont get driven more, but I cant lie, if I had the means, I would dearly love a similar collection.....plus a few more classics.

Its great that he shares them at Goodwood and the like, too.

Some people are funny though aren't they?
Clearly a very successful company, but check out the website:

http://www.saywell.co.uk

Is that not the most awful place your browser has been since 1999?
Why on Earth would you not spend a few quid getting a decent website?

To be fair, although a few of the cars aren't driven much, compared to some "collectors" at least most of the cars are given a decent number of outings, and even track time. Much better than the Harrods posers!

I have met Mr Saywell and he is a very nice chap.
I know his neighbour very well too. I asked him who takes all the cars to shows etc and he said friends and family.
He said he'd put in a good word for me....!

Funnily enough, quite a number of businesses that make tidy sums have basic sites, even just contact info. Their business has been set up nicely for years with repeat industry customers, the website does the bare minimum for those that want a little info.

His punishment for not driving that F40 should be to put the keys (and location of the car) into the FedEx envelope that will be sent to the address on the website shortly wink See, it is handy!

He may not drive them all but others do get to take them out - after all he can only drive one at a time.

I wonder if he gets blasé about his cars? I suspect nearly anyone on here having just had their new Aventador delivered would have at least asked their secretary to clear their diary for an afternoon for the first grin filled ride. His seems to have rolled off the trailer and straight into the garage.

I suspect he employees a fair number of people so it should not be that hard to delegate

Great video. I remember seeing him on Fifth Gear years ago with the two koenigsegg's. The collection now is even more amazing and have seen them at loads of events smile

Lamborghini had a white one on the stand at the Beijing motor show.

I blagged my way on to the stand and got a couple of pics. It does look really nice in white. It's not a flat white colour, more a sort of mottled/metallic type of white. A bit hard to describe.
