I've just spent a very interesting couple of hours down the pub (nice Guinness) with a PH member who has a McLaren F1!

Now I know what you're all thinking. Have I lost my marbles and started drinking with fictional members of the fictional Dokic family.

However, wary of that incident (he's been a reader of PH since 1999), this chap brought along some pictures and info about his car. In fact he even brought the V5 and MOT certificates!

He was a real gent and regaled many fascinating tales of the realities of ownership and driving. (e.g. top speed achieved on the Autobahn one Sunday morning, GPS verified at 221mph).

He'd sort of like to share his experiences of ownership with PHers but given the hoax we underwent previously he was wary of piping up for fear of getting shot down in a barrage of accusations about being another fantastist. He's not keep on revealing his complete identity for other fairly obvious reasons which wouldn't help either if he started posting out of nowhere.

So, I can 100% verify that he is the owner of an F1 and in fact he turned up a PH HQ in a fine example of one of Porsche's best track day toys.

Hopefully I'll get the chance to ride in his car at some point in the next six months or so and will report back when I do. In the meantime if he chooses to pipe up on a thread please accept that he is genuine!

Great news, but you'll have to give us a clue as to how we'll 'recognise' him online or we'll have a flood of Dokic-alikes all telling F1 stories.

Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Jon...or perhaps Anna....no wait, I'll be Jarel.

Ted - it must be like collecting cigarette cards. You must have a PHer for nearly everything currently automotive all neatly arranged on your bedroom wall!

Well done that man!

twas interesting. Apparently there's a bit of the Autobahn near Frankfurt that is about 5 miles long and four lanes wide (where they used to do speed testing years back apparently).

He did the run early on a June morning (i.e. sunrise very early) when there was only traffic in lanes 1 and 2 (couldn't do that in the UK could you with all the middle lane morons).

After several runs he notched up a 221mph on the GPS including overtaking a police car (the road is unrestricted so they didn't mind).

Why would one need to tell all PHers that he owns an F1? I wouldn't, because I'd fear that this is the only thing that makes me interesting to other members.

Many people enjoy PH without owning a desired car or posting 100 posts per week. So no problems about keeping quiet about owning an F1, Miura and/or a 959

The service bills were interesting. Very detailed, they looked more like business proposals, each one in its own folder.

The car is corner weighted before and after the service and all the disks measured and all sorts of other minute detail which got lost at the bottom of my pint of Guinness.

Needless to say a service cost several K (labour rate was a reasonable £70 per hour though )

Could be Rowan Atkinson. Not sure he would have a Porsche though.

Or George Harrisons son. He inherited his dad's F1

Or the guy (Keith) from the Prodigy.

Am I warm?

I will be mentioning this when I am next at my local Porsche dealership complaining about hourly rates.
