Reposted from earlier as i forgot then couldnt add title, bloody iphone!

As a present to myself for having to endure 3 weeks of torture in Disneyworld Florida I took home some Performance friction discs and pads to swap out my PCCB's for smile

I meant to get some caliper studs to replace the existing bolts but the guy couldn't supply in time before I came home, has anyone here done the same (on Rennlist it seems to be the done thing to prevent cross threading) and if so where did you get the studs from?

Cheers,
Martin

they are porsche motorsport parts but you should be able to order them via your local porsche parts dept providing you have the numbers and are happy to wait for them to appear.

if you arent tracking the car heavily, and if your caliper design doesnt need the whole caliper pulled in order to replace the pads (997.2) then theres little benefits from going to studs since you wont be removing the bolts regularly (thus risking wear on the aluminium hub threads).

isnt your car under warranty (i remember your tyre post ref corsas)? if so then expect headaches from fitting the studs. they are a "race" part and not for road use. you cant just whip them out if you are taking the car in to the OPC either as they threadlocked in and need heated to huge temp to remove.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll just stick to the normal calliper bolts smile

I'm not planning on tracking the car much (probably 2 days max a year) so wasn't going to change them for that reason, it was more to prevent cross threading issues that a lot of the guys on Rennlist have had. In saying that, I think a lot of the cross threading has been because they've dived straight in with an air wrench instead of hand tightening them!

I knew there was a bit of faffing around installing them having to use a double nut to tighten but didn't realise you needed to heat them to remove them, definitely another plus for normal bolts!

Yes my car's still under warranty so the normal bolts will make it easier to whip off the PFC's if it needs going in to the OPC smile As for tyres, I managed to get a brand new set of N1 Corsa's from ebay Germany so am one happy camper.

Cheers,
Martin

No probs,

The stock bolts carry a cross threading risk when fitting due to the bolt being far harder than the aluminium hub however if you clean the threads every time you have them off you should be ok. If you are only tracking occassionally you shouldn't be removing them a whole lot anyways.

Glad you got some corsas. They're a fantastic tyre, love them on the Ferrari.
