If you were buying a TVR - where would you go for one? If you've bought one, would you go back and buy another from the same dealer?

Also - would you buy privately and would you consider an inspection, if so, who by?

Used X-Works (Paul & Heath)to inspect my car pre-purchase. Saved me hundreds of pounds at least and the place I bought it from said it was the most comprehensive inspection they had seen done.

My last Chim came from James Agger. My next TVR will also come from James Agger.

Cant praise Barry at TVR Ecosse (http://www.tvrecosse.co.uk) in Dundee enough - gave me great advice when I was looking for my TVR and was more than happy to answer all my phone calls with questions and worries about potential purchases. Since buying the car he has also been invaluable :-)

I notice you are in Glasgow so he is pretty handy for you as well

What model are you looking for ?

oh I also found Tony at HHC very helpful

Bought Chimaera from Tony at HHC and Sagaris from Jason at STR8SIX would have no hesitation in recommending both dealers. They are top class in my opinion.

I bought though castle sports cars and would use them again. Would also trust str8 six and James Agger. I'd buy private but get it inspected with Jason, don, castle or another well known dealer.
Personally I wouldn't trust ingleby to inspect a washing machine let alone a Tvr.

This post should read who should i not go to! but due to the s---- N&S rules we cannot help each other this way frown
Only have experience with Fernies and str8six in terms of purchase but they both get the thumbs up from me.
Hexham H C seem to get rave reviews as well.

Another thumbs up for Fernhurst's and also for Track V Road - two very different dealers/specialists but both excellent in their own ways.

Are you considering buying?
If so I'd go along to a local TVRCC meet and speak to owners. Get a good feel for the marque and see where you go from there. Choosing the right model is critical so if you speak to people you'll probably be able to get a run out in a few which may help.
Once you've deciced on a model the look at help options. Thre are a lot of helpful PH owners that may also help when you know what you're after.

If I were to do it again, id buy a shed and give it a full chassis refurb and respray

It would probaly work out same price and much better car at the end of it,

Trust no one! And for peace of mind do it your self

That's my 2 cents

Cheers Ewan, I noticed TVR ecosse and thought about giving them a ring as they're not too far away. I may wait until they've got a T350 or tamora in stock and have a look

Indeed - I was hoping to get an idea of this even with the N&S rules having had a v bad experience with a small independent near Wetherby several years ago (seems they've gone bust) and not something I'd want to repeat.
