Yes it was very good, the Beeb was on top form. I loved the bit when Lewis prompted Jenson to ask Mark an awkward question, and Mark's riposte was very quick witted! I'd like to see them do the same with other teams, regardless of the nationality of the drivers.

Highlight of the GP weekend that little piece. Very funny indeed. The montage of the viewer as the racing driver, growing up and working through the ranks was also a good bit of BBC viewing.

I think the actual star of that video was Mark Webber, his reply to Lewis's question and then not playing along with Jenson trying to end the interview was very funny.

The BBC team appears to have a very good relationship with both Mclaren and Red Bull. I assume this is due to DC who drove for both teams for many years.
Not having watched any of the new Sky coverage, do they have a similar relationship with any teams?

No. Monaco GP Jake and crew make their way to the Red Bull swimming pool.... they are directed to stand behind a barrier.... Jake informs them they are the BBC and a bemused Red Bull employee tells them they need to speak to Katie. DC disappears and 60 seconds later they are walking past the barrier to their own spot... walking past a bemused Martin Brundle who is standing behind said barrier. DC does help, but so too do the BBC crew

I did love the "turn off his mike" bit when Eddie Jordan turned up.
Very good little piece and it shows (again) that Jensen and Lewis really do seem to get on away from the track. Whenever they do these little bits with the McLaren drivers they really do seem like a couple of mates just having a laugh (yeah I know they are doing PR for the team, but they are not that good at acting)
And Mark is always funny.
The rebull "stand behind the barrier" moment was pretty funny as Brundle looked very annoyed in the background. I notice that Mark also went straight to the BBC crew when he finally got out of the pool bypassing the other press completely.

I'm pretty sure Lazenby mouthed 'Oh for f k's sake' as well when he turned around and saw the BBC team turn up and stroll straight through the barrier. Hard being the new boys on the block.

It just shows how well liked and respected the BBC crew are in the paddock. But that also comes from being there for a few years now, once Sky have settled in and built up relationships I'm sure they'll get similar levels of access.
Shame the BBC sold out really and chose to spend the money making The Voice and other such crap. The F1 program is one of the best things they've done for years.

I haven't got the Sky F1 package so I cannot compare them with the BBC however it does seem that the beeb have total respect from the F1 paddock in whatever they do.
The Lewis/Jensen piece was superbly done & the pair of them were obviously having a blast. They do seem to getting on very well together which is always a good thing to see these days. The 'let's turn EJ's microphone bit was brilliant'.
I think EJ is excellent & I hope that neither he, Jake or DC take the Sky money for next season & I hope that they stay with the BBC who surely must be regretting the way that they sold out last year.
If not not why not?
The way that Jake & DC decided to muscle in on the Red Bull pool party was great to watch. It was a case of 'we are the BBC & we are going over there'. Priceless & very cleverly done. I didn't see Brundle as others did however I guess he would have been well annoyed by that.
Regardless of the rights & wrongs of the way the beeb dumped F1 I do think that their coverage is excellent & I am evening beginning to warm to Ben Edwards' commentary style now.
More of the same please.

Drivers have been known to walk past someone like French TV to talk to much 'smaller fry' because they happen to know the producer, cameraman or presenter for X years. Very amusing

Hard being the new boys on the block. He did indeed. It was a lovely moment. Sky are doing some bits of their coverage really well. But then there's some dreadful dumbing down which is clearly annoying the bigger teams - their bit with Pinkham / Horner / Webber in the Red Bull hospitality was cringeworthy.

Hardly Lazenby's worse c*ck-up of the weekend.... ...despite taking a while to get into the Red Bull area I'd wager Martin wishes they hadn't when he got shoved in the pool, his Iphone joining Eddy's from last year at the bottom :-)

RE: Ben Edwards.
I think he is excellent and an improvement on Brundle.
