ok I know its been done before, but the pistonhead search bit never seems to work nowadays. All those with standard mirrors, if you had the chance to change them for everyday use and the odd track day what would you fit?

I'm happy with mine with the addition of mini mirrors fitted below the Factory ones. I can now see under the wing.

Steve Thanks Steve but this is a convex mirror??, Its design gives a wide angle of vision, to see blind spots at the side and usually fitted by the older generation when they wear their driving gloves and flat cap.  All I want to do is see cars behind me and what they are and their movements? The standard mirrors are great but the line of sight to the rear is blocked by a lovely great big wing... If i was short it would be better, but seeing as i am 6 foot the wing is in the way. Either i move the mirrors downwards or the wing upwards and only have a single plane so although bu raising the wing it increases down force, but only having the single element it reduces it back???

OK, so I am old. Which is why I forgot to say I relpaced the convex mirrors with a piece of plain mirror cut to size and glued in place. Your height would not have changed anything. It is the height of the mirror which is the problem. These extra mirrors make all the difference. Steve (And yes I do have a flat cap)

haha interesting you havent found this too... if i crouch in the seat the field of view is bettered by alot.
I have been with Martin today playing with pieces of mirror and found the ideal mounting/position of a mirror is half way up the side windows otherwise rear view is compromised, so am now looking at alternatives.
The position of a forward mounted mirror does not seem best for me after sitting in Martins car, however I do like Martins mirrors, the field of vision is v fantastic.. Thanks Martin for your help today

a good example of how the wing is in the way of the view from the rear or looking behind. if the photographer was directly behind even if he stood up the mirror would not be seen. If the mirror is repositioned half way up the window it would be seen. too low and the rear clip gets in the way
