At the Growl today was a RV8 turbo kit. Looked like a very well thought out arrangement- big LP turbo running on std RV8. Definitely food for thought huh (Pupp?)

No it wasn't TVR Power- it was an outfit called Torque V8 induction systems.
Very neat solution complete with intercooler & best of all the price was 2400 if you have an Emerald (2900 if you need an ECU).
On the demo Chim 450 with the kit fitted, the output was stated at 360hp/400ftlb running std internals.

Was this demo car a Chimaera? Eann took me for a demo run when he retuned my TF a couple of years ago. Very neat install and a nice kick in the back from the turbo. The car was easily spinning the R1Rs.

Hi Derek, yes it was a blue Chimaera 450.
Very tempted by the install.

Hoping that I don't cause anyone any offence but their website looks a bit mickey mouse ... http://www.torquev8.com/index.html... and has a (C)2008 at the bottom of the Homepage which always concerns me. Of course if they're engineers rather than geeks then I guess that's a reason. Nothing on there about a turbo setup for the RV8 - wouldn't you expect them to publicize it? Phil

Phil Hi Phil Eann works from home in Warrington and is a 1 man outfit. Hes an enthusiast that provides very reasonable options and a personal service. I know some of his ideas and products are questioned frequently on here but the dealings i had woth him were always excellent and i know others that are very happy with his work.

No worries - as I said, "Of course if they're engineers rather than geeks then I guess that's a reason." so in that case he's an engineer rather than a geek so that explains the website. Maybe it would be an idea if he was to pop up some info on the turbo setup and generate some interest / business in that case? Phil

Guys, I was at the grief growl yesterday and had a good chat to Eann yesterday. He took me for a spin in the 450 and it was very impressive with huge midrange grunt and this fitted to a bog standard car! There are 3 size turbo options and he is running the midsize one. It is a complete bolt on kit with nothing else to source. Eann said that he was going to put it on the Crazy Horses dyno today and if so it would be very interesting to see the results! I took a couple of pics.

As Howard so subtly hinted, I also was treated to a run out by Eann and can certainly confirm its grunt and, perhaps more impressively given it's still on 14cux electronics, it's manners. Seemed progressive and usable; sounded great too, 'though it was often difficult to hear over Eann's cackling... the man obviously enjoys his creation. Looks simple and elegant, which invariably means loads of thought has gone into it

No cats so friendly MOT man required.
This is the no nonsense fitment that the cars should of had to make them stand out, acceleration is deadly!

Awesome, I want one and I know my MoT man will love it And I'll get the best part of £300.00 back when I sell my ACT Y piece Do turbos & LPG make happy bed fellows? Thinking 300hp from my little 4.0litre and 25mpg would give the cost equivalent of 50mpg on gas Spank em at the lights & spank em at the pumps too

I was having a good look at this when it was on the dyno this morning, and must admit it is a very neat and tidy instal, good to see an alternative to the supercharger route. Peter, saw your car yesterday but didn`t know who I was looking for, I picked out who I thought was a likely looking chim owner but was told to p s off!!!

Problem is finding an MOT man who's willing to take that risk of losing his MOT licence nowadays... Otherwise, a change of injectors and a £50 1 or 2 bar MAP sensor and I'd be ready to jump to some forced induction... Phil
