Guys

All has been great with my 2004 111s (although thinking of selling it after 3 years) until toiday when the boot lid wont open. Key turns about 80degrees each way put does not pop up. Have had a look around on the sites and there is talk of emergendgy releases and breaking in with a coathanger etc!

Any advice on how/ how much to fix the problem?

If its anything like an S1 you can help release a sticking engine cover by pushing gently on it near the hinge. This helps it 'pop' open off the catch near the rear.

I realise an S2 body is different.

I managed to get to the cable from the rear wheel arch liner (drivers side I believe)and just pulled it until the boot opened.

I ended up ruining the cable and had to replace it, but I think it was pretty much knackered anyway.

I had a similar probably 4-5 years ago and ended up getting a lock smith to open it. Unfortunately he damaged the internal mechanism in the process and while it worked again it also caused the alarm to go off intermittently and I had to have the lock replaced in the end.
