Where do you order your coffee beans and how do you use them?

I've tended to use the coffeebeanshop but fancy a change - I put them through my mazzer and into the espresso machine!

I haven't tried this place yet http://www.smokeybarn.co.uk/ But it's owned by a PHer & seem good from what others have said.

Have tried all three mentioned above.

Smoky Barn gets a good mention for being run by a PHer. Does nice coffee to boot. smile

Has Bean has a huge selection - lot of good single origins available. Also, not all of their beans are available all year round so what you can get depends on the time of year.

Coffee Bean Shop I found a bit lacking compared to the other two.

For reference, I'm an espresso drinker.

Same here, had our first lot delivered a few weeks ago. So far have tried the malabar, epresso and this morning opened the coasta rican. All been good so far, and free delivery on orders over £30. We used to buy locally from small batch, but their pricing has gone silly. £20 a kilo for their house blend, less than a year ago it was £12.

Thanks for the smokey barn mention smile

Weve just got some new coffees in and the Malawi Geisha that we do is bloomin amazing - even if I do say so myself smile

The other new ones will be online soon but I'm still experimenting with the roasts.

Cheers

Monmouth Coffee...it's tuned me into a coffee snob. I started buying it after a couple of places near us opened up which use their beans.

You can order over the phone from them.

I've never rated 'Blue Mountain' highly, you're just paying for a label.

So yes - absolutely!

http://www.discountcoffeeroasters.co.uk/coffee-bea...

Local(ish) for me, and have been using them for over a year now.
Would loved to have used our PH'er roaster, but unfortunately just too dear in comparison.

Fair enough, but doesnt it take quite a long time to get through 4Kg of coffee? Kinda eliminates the selling point of fresh roasted?

i buy 2 bags at a time, and go through a bag in 3-4 weeks.
As my only use for the superautomatic machine is to make lattés, then any degradation in the bean even with my good storage system, is not readily detected.
If I drank espresso all the time, then it might be more of a concern.

I go to Caffe Nero and buy their house beans.

They're my favourite coffee shop, so no reason not to enjoy their coffee at home too smile

Took my first delivery from smokeybarn yesterday. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Fast delivery, free sample included and the Malawi Geisha I ordered is easily the best coffee I have ever had. I'm only going to order from there in future.
