I'm picking up my car from Central TVR on Saturday and it's just had a full respray. As such I'd ideally like to get the front end armourfended ASAP but Adrian is having trouble finding a company to come out and apply it.
As such can anyone recommend a company that could potentially do this on my way home that day? Basically the M6/A14 corridor.

Hi Tony, have you tried ringing armourfend and asking if they have anyone local?

When I did mine, they had a mobile unit come out and fit it, but that was near Sheffield.

What about these guys in Peterborough.....
http://www.paintshield.co.uk/

I remember a big article about them in Performance BMW magazine. Very professional outfit, only use genuine 3M film, might even have a mobile service, and I'm sure there's not much to choose between Armourfend and Paintshield - a few TVRs have used them.

Thanks for that. I've just spoken with Richard and have agreed to drop in on Saturday on my way home from Central. Price all sorted and hopefully no chips en-route to him smile
Going to wrap the front end in cling film between the 2 units though to help protect it a little.

Be interested to see the photos before and after. I'm not too keen on Armourfend, but that was on a spectraflair car, so it stood out a little more (seemed duller under the coating). Definately understand why you want to protect it. Do you mind Pming me the cost, as a front end respray might be something to look at next year.

Hi Steve,

Front end only has been quoted to me at £300 inc VAT. I'll likely get the mirrors and arches behind the front & rear wheels added to this though so will let you know the final cost once done.
As my car is plain silver rather than spectraflair it should be pretty much invisible unless inspecting really closely but better than the stone chips. These cars chip so easily - my front end was peppered after the last 3 years of use - that I feel it's worth putting up with the tiny imperfection than ruining an otherwise perfect and brand new paintjob.

My Cerb was Armourfended when I bought it.
I didn't really want it and thought about removing it, but I can now see the great job its doing preventing chips, so just going to leave it - I don't think it detracts the appearance too much (see my profile pic)and you soon get used to it...

(No idea where/when it was done though)

Awesome mate smile, remember the before and after. I think your right with the colour affecting it. Your car will be stunning, so no detracting!

Thanks for that. Always nice to hear positives from people that have had work done there. Speaking with Richard on the phone he gave a good deal of confidence but it's still a bit of an unknow. Will update tomorrow once I've had the work done.

Thanks for that Kel! I've changed my UN to SignLine.

Daventry area is where Venture were based so maybe a dealer/installer around there.

We've moved onto a superior film now and of EU origin, can't use chinese or usa polluting materials like a lot of others do anymore, you're barred!

Quick warning on taking a car straight from paint to having any film applied, don't do it, if you apply film before the paint has cross linked and off gassed, which it is going to be doing for at least 2 weeks even if the painter says it's baked rock hard, the film can bond to the paint in a way you don't want it to, or it can bubble up and lift.

If the painter says it's fine to do that, get it in writing as they'll deny all liability in time if & when you come to remove it the laquer/and paint come off with it or if the film fails in a few weeks/months time, so it's the same for whoever put the ppf on, if it was here you would need to sign a liability form, if you removed it and the paint did come off, the painter will blame the film rest assured and in so many years time you'll be left to sort it out yourself.

I believe Paint shield don't use 3M anymore, they use X-Pel which I'm sure they can confirm or otherwise if you get in touch.

3M bought Ventureshield so that is their main ppf now, and 3M don't make all of their own branded films, it's just a name that doesn't necessarily mean it's high quality or that they even make it, it just means they've stuck their logo on it so everyone thinks it's some great film they have developed and manufacture when it isn't.

OK - so I'm a little confused now. Are you saying Ventureshield is rubbish and not to use it?
The car came out of paint middle of last week and I've been assured that it will be fine for the film tomorrow but will certainly endeavour to get that in writing.
