Why has the price of fuel dropped so much recently?
It wasnt much more than a month ago when it was at £1.45 per liter.

(price in Tesco, for unleaded)

Could this be here to stay?

30 pence in Dubai, and that still dearer than most of the region.

Still, its nice to see it lower than it has been in the UK, long may it continue

The thing that annoys me at the moment is that even ASDA who present their "national" pricing so proudly have for the last fortnight been varying their prices according to the local competition, so in Carlisle for example they just reduced their prices to 129.7/134.7 where in other places they have been at this level for over a week!

I presume there will be places as of today where ASDA are down to 126.7/131.7 so we are still paying more than what we should be.

Why would they not vary the price depending on your location? It will cost a different amount to get fuel to different areas of the country and it doesn't make sense to make everyone else share the cost of this.

I wouldn't say 'cheap'. Petrol will never be cheap again I doubt. I'll consider it cheap when it's £1 a litre.

I filled up at 1.32.9 on Sunday and still have almost a full tank.

I might go for a run out tonight to empty it, that way I'll save money when I buy more.

Think the government have got involved and told suppliers to reduce fuel prices in-line with the cost of oil quicker, or face fines....

Well yes, but his point was that they actually advertise national pricing, which they clearly aren't doing!
