eek

All joking aside, it's pretty disgraceful that someone carried out that bodge on someone's car.

Someone should be strangled for that.

Any comment from the owner Rich?

The person who gave that an MOT pass should be reported!
The wker who bodged it should be forced to drive it, fast, around a race track with solid walls to the sides!

Absolutely baffling that someone would actually do that, also interesting that it passed an MOT in that condition.

He conducted some research but found out that the guy who did it is 'already' dead laugh

Previous owner knows nothing about it, apparently. At least it's been caught and will be put right. Scares you when the seat belt mount inside the car can be prised away from the edge of the inner body.

Truly shocking, and shame those responsible cannot be held to account, but it's great that this has been found and addressed without anyone being injured or worse....

Unfortunately the MOT man would have seen a well wax oiled chassis, given it a prod with the scraping tool and that’s as far as they are allowed to go on cars. Looks like the bodge was done well enough to fool new owners and the MOT, question is how much time must it have taken to go through the effort to make that fibreglass look like a metal tube? is says in the photos it was dressed to look like that, surely the person responsible could have welded in a new outrigger similar amount of time and do the job properly.

Hmm. Just back in from the garage after checking the chassis and touching up a bit. There's nothing like shocking pictures that to bring these little jobs forward. Starboard side done. Port side tomorrow.

He said something along the line of OH DAMN, that should not happen when you jack up the car that you have only had a few months!!!! The jack just passed clean through the front corner of the outrigger (a strong point, or so I thought). Manic phone calls to numerous garages and quick trips around the area to get some advice and idea of price. I had no idea of the mine field that I was entering in to, with various quotes for outrigger replacement via differing means and full body off options depending on the desired outcome and budget. Because of the extensive cover-up done by one of 4 people/companies no one knew the extent of the rust. I had deiced to go for a direct outrigger replacement via cutting through the floor as it seemed the cheapest option. I then found a local Kit Car garage who were much more knowledgeable and offered a full body lift and outrigger replacement for the same kind of money, however on a fuller inspection using the technical tools (BIG hammer and specialist screwdriver) we found the rust to be more extensive so I booked her in at the beginning of the year.

Welcome to the forum, and you really said OH DAMN??? wink

I wondered if this car was the one I'd seen down there a few times, at least you'll get it back in better than new condition. Hope it hasn't put you off TVR ownership!

No, but bound by T+Cs so went for the PC approach. She will look awesome when complete, the guys are doing a really good job and have plenty of knowledge to pass on. Latest pics are not good but all stripped down, bushes mostly out and the main chassis gets back from the shotblaster this week. On the road to recovery so to speak. I have fallen out with the Chim so far but we shall see when I get it back.

Stick at it, the love will come back.

You are right though, car is in the right place. Mine will be down there one day - when I can be without it long enough hehe

Yours back in time for the 'summer'?
