Sorry if the question has been asked before i guess so.
In the real world is there much in it between these 2 cars in power.
On paper the DB9 wins but......
My guess the DB9 wins in a straight line but the vantage in the bends.
Thanks

An older DB9 with Sports Pack or a new one with adaptive suspension will probably better the V8VS, unless it's very twisty.

Easy solution.... V12V Best of both worlds... The V12 in a car for power that can do the twisties as well.... Less 2 back seats for people with no legs..

Apples and onions... Which models of each car, assume both standard manual early ones; 380bhp vs 450bhp or late ones; 470bhp with adaptive suspension Vs latest 7spd Vantage S with 430bhp..? DB9 on the straights and Vantage in the corners... Why not. Vantage S probably as quick if not quicker these days with better ratios and almost as much power! A lot of time and money can make a DB9 quicker in both but you've got to >really< want to do it! Ask me again after the weekend

DB9 is such the better car in terms of performance......and it's better looking.......but the V8V is an excellent alternative for those with shallow pockets who might be a little scared of the big engine

Apparently FIA fire regs have outlawed the use of both pipes AND slippers in the cockpit for endurance races, hence the need to switch to V8V

to the OP.....let me ask you a question.....if you were going to buy a Porsche.....would you want a 911 or the Boxster ? its the same with Aston.....if you want the begginers Aston then go for the V8V, an excellent car.......but if you want the full blooded experience then it has to be the DB9 be brave

I personally prefer the looks of the Vantage and having a 'light' car to chuck around is so refreshing compared to so many powerful cars that you drive these days.
To answer the OP, in the "real world" performance will be very similar between a 4.7 V8V and DB9 unless you will be driving the car to 100% of its limits.
Rather you need to see which one you prefer. Contemptuous statements to the effect that the DB9 is for the deeper pockets aren't really in keeping with the ethos of the marque, in my opinion, and should be ignored.

Drive them both back to back - it's the only real way to make up your mind, I know it did for me. I'm in the process of buying a DB9.

My guess the DB9 wins in a straight line but the vantage in the bends. What’s the reason behind the ‘Top Trumps’ question? Reading between the lines, it’s as if you’re looking for justification for keeping the Vantage?

The V12V GT3 has replaced the DBRS9, the V8V is in GTE and GT4 classes, the DBR9 was in GT1

The DB9 is very feminine looking - suits most of its owners. The V8Vantage is more aggressive in its looks and stance - proper mans looks car. If you are going near a track the V8Vantage will leave a standard DB9 for dead (ignoring a Yeti'fied one) - lots of track stats to back it up. Most DB9's are autos only as the pipe and slipper brigade all appear to have have arthritic left legs. The V8Vantage has a mans proper manual gearbox. The DB9 does have rear seats though - which are big enough for the great-grand kids

I think this is a fair comment.....4.7 is much closer to the DB9 in performance.....the 4.3 engine was used at one time as the starter motor for the DB9

That'll be because of the immense rotational inertia of that oversized lump then.

I hate to interrupt all the wonderful banter, but though I used to prefer the looks of the DB9, I now find I prefer the V8V. Maybe familiarity I guess.
Yesterday I saw a DB9 in sainsurys carpark, from the front 3/4 angle, and though "my, that's an awkward looking vanquish", but it was actually a 9. *ducks*
I will be handing in my car-geek licence at the door.

great banter, all said with a smile I love my "starter" Aston and it seems to go pretty well with Yeti in tow round Wales Next week I've been told by Mummy that I get to wear trousers
