Hi all. On my search for a new car (350z is one of the more likely candidates!) and I have come slightly unstuck with what the sellers are saying about power and engines in their cars.

I didnt think that a 313 or even 300 bhp model even arrived until 2005/2006, yet on AT there is numerous 02 and 03 plates stating the car has 300 bhp and is a '300' model. More surprisingly there was an apparent 313 bhp model up a few days ago which was on an 02 plate. Am I missing something really obvious here?

The only explanation I can see is that the imports had the engines updated at different times to UK cars? but that's purely a guess and maybe me trying to believe that all the old, cheaper cars still could actually have 300 bhp! or maybe i've just been decieved and you can actually get an import 300 bhp 02 model! if anyone has any definitive guidelines to go by to see whos telling porkies about their car i'd be eternally grateful!

So the many adverts with 02-04 plate cars claiming to have 300 bhp/ps are all just lying? there seems to be just as many apparent '300' cars if not more than there is the normal 276 version! especially on AT, very peculiar.

even when they came out the factory the figures were a bit high,knock of 10bhp for any model u get. imports got the same engines at the same time as the uk did.
you will love the car just dont expect to be a drag king =(
