Hi all
Am new to Lotus Forum having been a TVR owner for the last 5 years. Just sold my beloved Tamora and after spending last weekend at Le Mans and drooling over some beautiful Loti (is that the plural?) I'm keen to look into an Elise now. Initially looked at an Evora which i think is beautiful but having just bought a hosue is out of my price range sadly.
However, whenever I look at Elise's for sale I am not sure what the difference in spec is (i.e. Touring vs. 111 vs. S etc). Looking for a toy that I can use when the Mrs has my day car.
Can someone fill me in on what's what please? Would be hugely greatful.
Thanks
Will

Welcome to the Lotus section I've moved your question into the dedicated Elise sectin, hopefully it will get seen by a few more Elise specific people there and so can help you a bit more

It goes something like:
S1 = old round headlighted model S2 = pointy headlighted model S3 or S2.5 = latest model which is somewhere between the two
No suffix = normal K-series, about 120bhp. 135R = mildly tuned K-series, 135bhp Sport 160 = more heavily tuned K-series, 160bhp Sport 190 = VHPD K-series; tends to explode occasionally. 111 = VVC K-series; 143bhp in the S1, 156bhp in the S2 111S = 111 with carpets 111R = 189bhp Toyota engine R = new name for 111R S = 140ish bhp Toyota engine SC = supercharged 220ish bhp Toyota engine
Touring = a pack that includes extra sound deadening.
I've probably missed a few things out.
Weight and build quality generally both increased over the years, with a significant step in weight (something like 50-100kg) between K-series and Toyota powered models.

Great bit of kit, without the sound! But remember with the Elise (S1) geting in and out is not the same as a Tam, its a pain in more ways than one.

Seloc wiki contains a detailed model list. http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Elise_model_historyThis website has less info but more pictures http://www.elises.co.ukLots of similar models to confuse you ! The S2 Elise model changed from having a long roof for models up to around 2002 to a short roof, engine changed from rover to Toyota powered 2004-2005 but for a time both models were sold and was upgraded to drive by wire throttle, led lights and later dash around 2008. I've got a s2 111s and s2 111r at moment. There is endless debate of which is better a S1 or S2 and Rover or Toyota power (or Honda actually as you see a lot of S1 converted to Honda). In reality they are all quite different, depends what you want it for, how practical you need it and how hands on you want to be. Great cars though, immense fun on Scotland's smaller and twisty roads.
