Anyone 'bought' any of this Wenger discounted luggage from Tesco ? A quick cursory glance at it in the store yesterday made me wonder - the Wenger Kit is normally pretty good and solid - granted maybe no the Double Director quality and PRICE of the Tumi kit, but good enough. The Wenger in Tesco looks lesser than the normal gear they manufacture. Tesco 70% discount of Wenger Luggage

Bought the washbag and messenger bag last week. Seem to be reasonably well made to me. Messenger bag has plenty of pockets and padding for the laptop section, so certainly adequate for the price.

Mum and dad picked some up. Very happy with it, and it was genuinely reduced in price.

The label / logo is slightly different, the zips etc are different, material cheaper, and I would guess not suffer well with travel abuse. Why would you (as Wenger) ?

Wenger luggage (& swissgear) and Wenger Knives are actually 2 different companies. Im guessing Wenger knives (part of Victorinox SA) make most of its money selling to the military anyway. Victorinox is the most important brand to Victorinox SA, Wenger is just a sideline.

I've got one for when I'm on duty, messenger bag I think its called. Fits my paperwork folder, waterproof trousers and light weight hi-viz, seems to be well made. Although only had two shifts with it so far.

To confirm the Tesco variant is : a) far lesser quality b) now common as f k in all of UK's airports as Joe Bloggs trudges off to Elevenerife. c)Bizarre that Wenger have been satisfied with the market saturation of Tat that I would expect would damage the brand for the above two reasons.

Shock - 70% off and lesser quality! a) Did it fall apart on you? Take it back. b) A black suitcase is a black suitase. The tiny logo makes it no easier or harder to identify c) Most people have a bit of wit, and realise that a product at 70% off, on a national scale, isn't the same as some of their higher end stuff. So it'll not damage the brand as long as people consider price, and they will. Incidentally, they've been selling the same stuff at the likes of John Lewis for a while now, so any damage is likely done (if the product fell apart on you, it's fallen apart on people that have paid full price, and they'll be more annoyed!)

Sorry - maybe was not clear - I travel quite a bit with work, I have a Wenger roller / 3 day bag thing and am pleased with it - was a proper job bought through Amazon I recall. OH needed a case for a recent hols and bought here one of these Tesco' Wengers. The Quality is chalk and cheese, and I suspect if the Tesco variants were used as a day in day out 'working luggage' as per my stuff, it would not last. Another guy from work travelled to the USA the other week and he more or less had the Tesco version of the one I have - again, quality is not even close. Just thought I would let others thinking of their gear know

Otherwise it's like those super annoying Trip Advisor reviews that slam a cheap hotel for not being the Four Seasons!
