Discussion
Further to the can a 996 cab live outside thread, I thought with nothing to do this afternoon I would check mine out.
Luckily the car is fine and the drains are all clear.
However, what I have noticed is this part covered in oil, does not look to bad, years of oil and muck by the looks of it.
Anyone help?, its a 2003 996 c2 cab tip. only done 21000 miles.... owned it since new!
To help I have scrapped a bit of oily muck of to identify it...

So after posting on here, I jacked the car up a bit more, looked right underneath and.... Oil everywhere!
Looks like it's coming down right above the cross member at the edge of the underside tray forward of the axle line. Looks like bottom of gearbox?? Sump? Not engine behind the rear axle line.
So obviously car is completely fked! Will take it garage sometime soon and get it sorted... luckily it only gets used every now and then.
It only had to last until next year when it will be retired into the home and became part of the furniture in the study!
