Gents, I'm interested in buying a TVR 2500M. Always liked the way they looked and with the TR6 lump (an engine which I am very familiar with) I imagine they move along pretty well considering the glassfibre body. Has anyone here ever driven one? I have a TR6 presently, so I'm used to it's quirks but am wondering what TVR ownership is like. Is the quality really that "bad" or is it just "hand built car" syndrome? I think my Silver Shadow II is going to a new home this weekend, so the Turbo R and TR6 will be lonely without another stablemate and I'm thinking the 2500M is what I'd like. Any input, as always, would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and here's a link to the car I'm considering; http://www.wirewheel.com/1974-TVR-2500M-for-sale--...Oh yeah, for some reason, I can't start a new thread over in the TVR forum... ??? Cheers, Aaron

There are two TVR sites used quite often by NA owners:- TVR_Pre1980@yahoogroups.com & usa-tvr@yahoogroups.com If you post your questions there you will probably get a good response. I personally prefer the later 3000M's and drive a 5000M so I am not the person to answer about the 2500M's although I quite fancy one with a Moss supercharger kit. Overdrive gearboxes are very desireable Later ones have a better finish inside. The chassis and suspension is better than a Triumph and any rust is only on the chassis which, being a space frame, is fairly easy to fix perfectly. And the car protects you fairly well if you drive quite fast head first into something! The one you are looking at looks reasonable and Harris has a fair reputation. There are normally a few on the TVRCCNA web site.

Thanks pumpkin, I'll check those sites. Also appreciate the bit of info on it--and good to know it's fairly decent in the event of a collision-- probably more so than my TR6 Yeah, Harris seems to be a stand up guy. Spoke with him on the car a day or so ago. Now, should I hop a flight down to Florida and drive it back to Ohio??? Hmmmmm............

You sir are sadly deluded!! You did in fact post in the correct forum, as it is quite obvious that you really, deep down, honestly, know that you want a WEDGE!!! you cant hide it anymore, we also have a chimp that comes over here denying that he dreams of owning a WEDGE, its just something that needs to be done! Forget the M, and get youself one of the most desireable of retro cars available!! Stu

Hallsie, Is that a Freudian admission of perving over a sexy, curvaceous classic?

It may well be exactly that!!
Ill be looking at a 3000M next week with any luck, and as soon as my silver FHC 2+2 has sold it will be in my garage and stripped naked for a chassis refurb!!
Ill the be spending a lot more time here!
