My ex flatmate had a Golf GTI, MK2, red 8V, second owner. Really straight unmolested car, properly looked after, full service history, all MOTs, 86,000 documented miles, he'd owned it 18 years. Interior perfect. I always told him to let me know before selling. Well the car's MOT expired in October (but always passed before) and he could not be bothered with the selling rigmarole so he's letting me have it for £300. An absolute bargain in my view. Never driven one though..what they like?

Can anyone advise on a good specialist in West London or Surrey, close to Putney so i can get it serviced, MOT'd and so on?

Pretty dusty but will polish up a treat!

WoW!

Why do I never get offered cars like this!?

Just take it for what it - a fairly iconic vehicle that you can hopefully enjoy and keep running for many years to come.

I have to say when I drove one (already knocking on a bit) it was a fairly underwhelming, but solid experience compare to the other hot hatches of the era. But solid, reliable, cult status counts for allot!

Expect a terrible feeling brake peddle.

Nice one!

, exchange the peddle for a pedal, that's what brakes, or should I say breaks, use.

had a few myself, loved them all!

as its red, the paint will fade very quickly and go dull, needs a good clay and orbital polish and sealing it, then they look stunning!!

wished someone offered me one for £300!!!

I think I hate you frownfrown

I'd love another Mk2 smilesmile

The comment on the brakes - nothing wrong with the pedal feel on the Mk2. The Mk1 is a different matter...

Put the right wheels back on though - those look terrible.
Otherwise great buy.

The Pirelli P wheels look grear, but the standard steels, refurbed in silver, set it off a treat. I think those wheels on yours were a period option.

£300? Jammy bugger! What a lovely car for less than the price of a decent TV! That will scrub up into a cracking car.

Nice to see an original low owners/low mileage example.

I'll happily give you a £1,000 for it and a free lift home if you bring it down to me Kingston. biggrin

I will pm you the details of who to take it to locally if you want to get it ready for you to use it (mot/service/freshen up).

It's not worth £300. Probably needs loads of money spending on it for MOT, I'll give you £500 cash and we'll say no more about it.

Lucky bd!
