Hi guys, after your track day knowledge please! I am DIEING to get the chim on track, now I really want to do Donnington as its very close to me and having driven it a few times in the past, its a track I enjoy and know well.

BUT

most days are 98DB drive by limit (102 or so static) no mine is a 430 with precats out and sleeved exhaust so is quite a bit louder than standard but not stupid, any of you guys ever tracked with similer set ups and know what you run? I dont want to spend 2-300 quid on a TD and get chucked off!

Cheers

Jon

Can't they stick mufflers on the end to make it compliant?

Donnington is one of the few tracks that very occasionally does noisy days, might be worth contacting them direct to see if they still do and when the next one will be.

they have got a few on the calender but all either group sessions which I hate or massively expensive! and I've had a bit of a spending spree recently so would like to try and keep costs down a tad!

Mine has a standard system with all cats out.

Carefully raising thhe revs slowly to no more then 4.5K gives a 99db reading.

If you bolt on a pair of ACT or similar cans you should pass.

Ideally, drop the sleeving and go standard, no cats, that's loud enough imho.

If its that close to you, why not just stop off one day when you have a spare 15 minutes and simply ask them to measure it for you? I'm sure they wouldn't mind - I think Bedford are happy to do it for people, so don't see why Donny should be any different.

Ah but the OP's is sleeved - not a chance of getting anywhere the limit IMHO, I think even with a standard exhaust you'll struggle to get past a 98db limit.

I've got a sleeved 450 with main cat still in place and I would like to do track days and have been considering getting inserts and then the bolt ons as well. But what I am now going to do is stick some silencing back into the system (probably an ACT sports system) then add some inserts to get down to the 105db that most tracks seem to be ok with.
