anyone have any ideas why my 2000 2.7 boxster is missing when its wet?
ive changed all 6 coil packs and its still doing it. its ok in dry or damp, but when its wet it misses quite a bit, enough to throw the engine light on, but clears after 4k revs

Its common for water to enter the inlet tract on early Boxsters due to the position and design of the air intake / airbox, once it gets in it interferes with the MAF sensor.
Has the car got a standard air filter set-up?
Try running the car with the MAF disconnected if the misfiring stops then you know where to start looking.
A check on a PIWIS tester might be in order.

Confirm the issue is MAF related - essentially disconnect it and run the engine without the adaptation afforded by the MAF sensor system.
If it is so; you may have to reinstall the snorkel parts - they were designed to separate the air from debris/water which would impair running - the intake was redesigned in 1997 after cars were found to be suffering with the same symptoms you describe and a kit was available; I'll PM you the TI if it helps?
With the crap summer we're having you'll not have to check it for long!!
