Need some opinions/votes on this extra brake light, asking you for your valued opinions on how you think it looks, if you would do this to your Chimaera and if not have you got any better ideas?
It has to work roof on/off, back window up/down - anything else considered.
Please note - although painted in the right colour this light is just sitting on there for the purposes of taking these photos so forget any minor alignment issues.

It isn't a bad idea as a third brakelight does reduce the risk of someone not noticing you are braking and rear-ending you........ but IMO if you are concerned about safety a TVR is perhaps not the best choice and most importantly IMO it distracts from the smooth sculpted rear end.

I've said this with other one's I've seen. I always thought the idea of the extra light was so that they were high enough to be seen through the car behind to give other cars advance warning of your braking so I think the only place to put one of these to be of any real use is on the rear edge of the targa bar, inside the car, shining back through the window.Granted that means it's only visible when the roof is up but it's in roof up conditions that it would be most useful I'd have thought.
why not just retro-fit some of these (http://www.flickr.com/photos/scansfield/5650729967/) in a similar position to where they are on the tuscan ? Either that or if you want to be really flashy couldn't you make very small holes in the roof above the rear window, push red LED's through so they were just showing (but not visibile) and then shoegloo them in to make sure its watertight ? That way you'd get the desired effect without changing the look of the car.... just a thought, don't know how faesable this would be though.

That type of Tuscan does not have the folding window so it works fine, the Chimaera does, so it wouldn't.No way would I consider drilling a canvas hood to push lights through, that would be a recipe for disaster IMO.

Where there's a will there's a way i'm sure. Some sort of LED unit would have a much thinner profile and perhaps work somehow by being able to fold inside the roof as it goes down. I personally just think that anything which doesn't change the external lines of the car would be better, that's just me though.
If you are set on it are there not smaller units than the one you showed which would do the same thing ?

Plenty of clever people out there with different ideas looking at this, someone may well come up with a better idea I haven't already ruled out, still early days.Until then the drill stays in the box
