I think most will agree that the LP series Gallardo looks much nicer without a front number plate. My question is, is the front number plate holder screwed/bolted into the bumper? would removing the holder leave holes in the bumper, or is it a clip system?

I've been asked for shortened number plates, with secure fixing tape running along the top of it. When we tried one with a full size plate it didn't look or fit right. HTH

Hi matey. Just been in lambo Birmingham. All the lp cars with front plates had the fixing plates screwed into the bumper... frown which means a bloody good smart repair to reverse.

Not sure what colour your car is,but might be a few options open to you.
You could try a small bit of tape, black cars probably hide this the best,or block the hole up with a small headed screw and dab a bit of paint on it.Or those plastic screw caps you get with flat pack furniture, then paint them.

Proof mate, hope you had a good time looking at all the toys. biggrin

Thanks all, proof is correct, I havent brought the car yet, just asking the question so I know whether to avoid cars that already have the front plate on. Don't really want to have a bumper with holes in it you see. smile ......Incidentally Im looking for a white one (probably)

Looks like top 2 go into bumper, bottom 2 into 'mesh'.... further investigation needed. Not buying a car due to having a number plate sounds a bit lame, but I figure its important to have the car you REALLY want, damn my OCD smile

My LP came from Lamborghini London with a narrower than normal front plate taped to the bumper (and the metal bracket in the boot). So presumably a proportion of them escape having the bracket screwed onto the car. Problem solved.

hi sandman..... maybe the brackets vary.... the ones i saw had one top screw each side and two for the lower mount each side, and all were into the bumper, looked like self tapering screws directly into the plastic of the bumper.... nothing wrong with waiting for the car you really want... i did and i haven;t regretted it one bit.... to be honest a good smart repair guy could do a good job, painting being the main issue.... in a colour like bianco monocerous, less so.

You're right Proof, I will know the holes exist and wouldn't settle lol, even if they were filled and sprayed. Think its gonna be a few months yet 'til I find the right car. Really like the 570 SL, but not too many of those knocking arond the second hand market at the moment. Im a patient kind of chap so I know the right car will come around eventually, or end up with a 560.

Mine too and the number plate stayed on fine with tape despite many washes and driving in wet. And it was IV. Sadly gone East like so many others. I think all Lambo London new LPs are the same with smaller plates and tape. Good luck with the search
