Hi chaps, looking for a bit of help. Main beam and full beam aren't working - I've tried the usual, as this did happen before. I cleaned the contacts on the switch on the dash, and they then worked ok, for two weeks They've failed again now, and I've replaced the switch this time (thanks for your prompt delivery Redline) but to no avail. Checked all fuses and reseated relays. Any direction I should be going in next? Many thanks for any help Chris.

Does your main beam flash still work? I lost everything but side lights unless I flashed the mains. Turned out to be a knackered relay, not just an unseated one.

Might be worth replacing the relay anyway. Knowing the way Sevens are wired, no two cars are the same so it might be mine has a separate relay for the flash where your's doesn't?

Any way I can find out which is the right relay, or test the relay?

I identified most of mine by a process of elimination.

Which switch have you replaced ? All the power for the dip and headlight are powered through the dip switch, it could be that
I'm assuming you've checked the bulbs etc

I've tried replacing the dip switch and the main off/sidelight/main beam switch, both to no avail... I admit I haven't checked the bulbs, will do so this aft. Thanks for your reply.

Well, it's not the bulbs... Is the flasher unit the one that clicks with the indicators? In terms of looking for one in Halfrauds, is there a way of identifying it? There is a diagram on the side of it..

Now bought a relay (the one that works the indicators) and replaced it - still no difference.

Went back to it after some dinner from my ever patient missus, and finally cracked it. Was a faulty relay, as my buying one from maplins enabled me to swop some over and create the fault others had described on blatchat; the full beam working along with sidelights, just not main beam. Then just a matter of swopping connectors round on the dipswitch to get things as they should be. (I'd been messing with them all day in a vain attempt to make them work!) Thanks for all your replies
