damaged/repaired 959
Discussion
this is a project we did last year. a long time cutomer of ours brought this car and asked us to repair it. it had been rolled and hadnt been started for several years, so he has big balls in my opinion! it was 48k, some people who saw us repairing it said thats a lot of money but if you arent a millionaire and want a 959 then its about the only option. the rear spoiler was totalled but we pieced it back together as its 15k for the inner and 38 k for the outer, then you have to bond them together. we got a front bumper off our man in germany for 3k which is a bargain apparantly. ill put more details later of the repair, ive gotta go out now. the car is now living in australia, its probably the 1st and last 959 ill ever drive. it was a sight me with no windscreen a pair of goggles some trade plates and a big grin, checking to see if it boosted correctly after we had rebuilt 1 of the turbos

the panels are all kevlar or fibreglass if i remember rightly. ill ask my dad tommorrow he will remember. it wasnt overwhelming once it was stripped, it was when it arrived everyone who was going to repair was pleased to see a 959. most of us were groaning and muttering about were to start, are you sure you know to a bumper/bonnet?etc. i didnt know the roof is kevlar on 1 until it arrived, then i put two and two together from when i saw a smashed 1 at freisingers in germany. the roof had a big crack across it and my dad said is that a replica? manfred snr said no all 959 polyester roof. i thought he doesnt understand the lingo lol.
it was nice too service the engine and rebuild one of the turbos, you never get too see the workings of one of these motors!
sorry no more pics until tommorow the painter wasnt in saturday and was too tight to message them to me off his phone. im gonna get him to take some of the cayman racer as well as his phone takes great pics and i havent apdated that thread for a while.
