Hi All,

Got an issue starting my car. Problem goes as follows:

1. Unlock car.
2. Put key in the ignition.
3. Depress clutch.
4. Twist key and nothing happens - no engine or other noises.
5. Occasionally the display says depress clutch even though it is pressed down.

I usually have to repeat this a few times before it starts. Sometimes it starts first time.

Any ideas what it could be? Clutch interlock switch.

Will be booking it into the dealer to get it looked but would like the thoughts of the forum.

Had same issue with mine. Known problem, youre right -
the clutch switch. All sorted under warranty. OPC knew
exactly what is was when I phoned them about it.

There is a workshop campaign running on the clutch switch - launched last week - get it in to an OPC and it'll be replaced foc.......

Sounds like the clutch interlock switch as your getting a display in the instrument cluster aswell.. But i would of thought it would only be FOC if its in the recall chassis number range or if its under warranty.

Covers vehicles 08 onwards - as OP's car is 997.2 that would be 09 on............

997.2s were available in 2008 as well though, so sounds like the recall is almost certainly for gen2 cars only.

Unless that's exactly what you were trying to say and I'm being obtuse. Wouldn't be the first time.

Hi Folks,

Many thanks for your responses.

Car is a 2009 on a 59 plate, purchased from Leeds OPC about 6 weeks ago.

Will call them tomorrow to book it in.

Just a quick update. Booked the car into OPC Wilmslow this Saturday all fixed within the hour.

It was the clutch switch, which as mentioned above, is currently on a recall.

Not sure about the recall, but having the clutch switch fail isn't unusual in all the 9*7 cars.
