All,

I have my cars insured through admiral, which is fine, intact I can add the 458 for around £800, so not so bad. But I'm looking to get s Desmosedici and the insurance seems crazy (I have had various performance bikes in the past).

I assume its worth putting all the vehicles on a specialist policy, but I'm not having much joy, I did google, but couldn't really find anyone.

Can anyone recommend who I can talk to about such insurance, 5 cars in total and the bike. I know a lot of you have some impressive fleets and wondered where to you guys go.

Promise not to mention insurance again! Thanks

You can nominate your own bodyshop.

I use Chubb Insurance via Willis Brokers of Ipswich. Bullet proof cover and excellent service. Perhaps not the cheapest but one of the very best. Complete peace of mind.

I'll echo Chubb Masterpiece policy. Totally bullet proof and you get excellent emergency assist and breakdown cover included

Only if they 're admiral approved though. To be fair I'm about to renew with Admiral, they have knocked £700 off my premium with their renewal price.

I use Admiral.

the bodyshop I would always trust locally with all my cars are approved by them so its no dramas.

Any insurance company is always going to be a pain in the arse, we buy it not expecting to need to claim. When Admiral is £1000 cheaper than the next guy (even specialist brokers) this is a no brainer decision!

Aslong as you get 2 estimates for the engineers you can choose any bodyshop you want.

Couldn't disagree more. Chubb is anything but a pain in the arse. They've been beyond brilliant.

As for Admiral, I used them for my kids car. They were awful on a small claim. Wouldn't budge until I threatened them with publicity. So depends what you call a no brainer. Just make sure you never have to claim big. Insurance for me means peace of mind on treasured things. Not a cheap deal and massive hassle later. Certainly not on an expensive machine and/or home.

There's a contintental (life and contents)insurance player who my business pitched to. Had to meet their procurement people. They said they wanted a deal like their legal deal. I asked what that was. They said they pay their law firms based on how many claims they get out of. Nice. Needless to say I moved my pension immediately out of this company. Pays your money........

i have used Admiral in the past on decent cars and found them very fair to deal with, i have to ask how were you going to make publicity out of a troublesome small claim?

It's a fairly common statement people make to insurers, generally the statement it self doesn't alarm the insurer as it's a comment bantered about quite often and if it does go to the media most stories are dropped when the press get both sides of the story.

Insurers recruit new customers through direct marketing using various channels. They are psychotic when it comes to the cost per sale and lifetime value of each punter. They want the lowest CPS and the highest lifetime value. The volume insurers business model is therefore extremely sensitive. Which is why the volume players generally are looking for any opportunity not to pay.

And so they should if we continue to shop based purely on price rather than value.

However with social media as it is today the saving for them (by being dheads over a legit claim) versus lost lifetime revenue against acquisition cost plus a heavy stream of poor reviews makes can make for an interesting conversation. Clearly this assumes the punter has a legit claim and not as in most cases a half legit claim, meaning a try-on.

Got a proposal from Ben this morning, seems ok. They are recommending a company called Aurum, has anyone had any dealing with them? A new company based in the same building!

Anyway, is anyone insured with them, any comments?

You are saying that you had to claim and had no issue? Or just no issues overall?

I have read through the policy booklet once and it was pretty scary if covering a 100k+ car... for instance ability to use non-new parts for repair, non agreed price valuation with no specification if price was trade-in or replacement....

I have used Elephant for a few years, but haven't had any claims.

My dad insured his V10 R8 with Admiral - recently crashed it. It's being repaired at the Audi Centre.

Initially, they wanted to try to get it sent somewhere else, but a couple of phone calls insisting that this is a specialist car that needs repairing by Audi meant that they agreed for Audi to carry out the repair.
