The Smolenski thing is raging on the general forum, lots of discussion on what might or might not be be. This forum is full of TVR enthusiasts, IF, big IF, the brand could be restarted, what would we like to see? what would we buy? what body? what engine/ drive train? What would sell? Leaving aside the economics of car production what should the next generation of TVR be???? For me it would have to be open top, two seats, and at least 400 bhp smile

To be viable it would have to have a crate engine from a big manufacturer.

Morgan have the right idea as they buy their engines direct from Ford and BMW complete with transmission allowing them to concentrate on the rest of the car.

For me it would have to be open top, two seater, and with a V8 engine, large split rims, interesting colour options, and a leather interior.

As for the manufature, the likes of Wiesmann, Morgan and Noble clearly have something right. I think we would all agree a crate engine of some description is a must.

2 plus 2 soft top Cerb / Tuscan - with a Tusc boot and seats you can actually get the kids in (911 sized).
Then you can keep the other one for yourself.

--only a V8 though different specs, guess going the LS way is cheap power although I don't mind a nice Ford V8 or sort likes as long as they are in budget and reliable. starting from 380hp to....600+

--Love coupe's so I would love to see also some sort of Griffith Coupe.

--for the cabrio clients they could also build such type but then with the sort of roof idea/system like say the Qvale Mangusta which can act as a Targa or full Cabrio, that way no flapping or damaging the plastic window of the soft part.

here the rear rotated in the back, make that system simpel for TVR and you can have best of both worlds (woman included? biggrin)



--- A good riged chassis that is hot dipped galvenised or stainless or even better a alu mono base which they can use for more types in the basis.

---Nice classic dash sorts like the older Griffiths or Chimaera or even more classic like the lovely S types or 2500 and 3000M types...I like that kinda look.

---a nice set of LW wheels the rears wider then the fronts

---the best set up with best springs/suspension and the best steering-rack etc

---good LW brakes

---not longer then say 4.10 meter and a good (long) wheelbase that fits the car.

---ABS system

---sper (locking) diff

---perfect weight balance

that's about it...
when can I collect biggrin

I like that last photo, looks like nice black pin stripes perfect weight balance too me LOL

On a serious side nice crate V8 with drive train Body must be convertible but these days we need roll bars and those air bags with impact side protection too, and those bits cost so price wise it would be in the 45k + area

We need more time to dream & prayers but really we need a man like Peter Wheeler or Martin Lilley to turn up and bring us TVR back to life

TVR´s got the recipe:
lightweight, fast, breathtaking shape and a good bit of insaneness.
Has to have 600+ hp nowadays.


I wouldn´t mind an LS Chevy but would love a supercharged Jaguar
engine in it.

I am not that keen on soft tops, prefer more manly coupes myself.
600bhp+ flared arches, big dished rims...

If the car is light I think 600bhp is too much for the majority. My Griff has 279 and 315 torque which can be a handful so I'd say 400 tops. Newbie Tiv owners tended to write a good proportion of them off within 12 months, so more than doubling bhp wouldn't be a good move for future sales. Maybe have some options, so up to 600 for the headcases among us.

That drawing looks too SLK for me, especially the rear.

Someone posted this sketch a few years ago - based on the Tuscan Challenge Race car, combines a few elements of the Griff, Chim/Cerb - I guess the Griffith Speed Six came out of this? (posting pictures from 1998 below, just for interest)

I don't think there is any harm keeping the looks retro though, it works for lots of other marques that have been reintroduced - obviously with updated under skin developments and engines.

I've owned TVR's for 22 years and I'm pretty confident if I had 600bhp I'd be dead by now.

Feel i already own it with the re-built LS monster Griff, just the new Touring car spec power steering to go and my dream TVR is complete!
Crate engine is imho the way forward as proved by the 20 or so very happy converts with between 400 to 600bhp dependant on how modded the rest of the car is!
Body shapes ,colours,and interiors should continue in a similar vien, as they are what drew me to the mark and made it stand out from everything else! Oh and noise don't forget the noise wink
Would old values increase or decrease with a re-launched TVR?
Definately feel my cars are a part of history as opposed to a piece of plastic with a short shelf life!
Still yet to own a cerb,chim,or sag so plenty of life left in the original cars for me biggrin
