Hey everyone,
I'm going to Italy next week with the Tusc for a few days, planning on visiting Milan, Mantova and of course Modena. But I would love to record my road trip, anyone know what to get ? I have a camcorder but... seems a little old fashionned.
Cheers

Most of the cars at Le Mans Classic seemed to have a GoPro attached to them.
I don't know the technicalities, but its food for thought for you.

Contour HD GPS with Bluetooth dongle.
Very very good kit and you can align your camera with the viewer on your phone.
Used it for my laps at Le Mans and it tracks your route also. Will link to the vid once I get it uploaded.

I've just ordered one of these: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/veho/muvi-hd10...It's not arrived yet so can't comment on the quality, but its about half the price of the go pro and comes with more stuff like a remote and includes a screen. The go pro is probably the most popular. I'll report back once it has arrived and I've got to grips with it. J.

Thanks people, been looking at the Gopros, it's popular alright but if you want the LCD screen and the remote you got to fork out around 400!!
I'll look into other brands or into a used one!
The one you mentioned with all the equipment seems pretty nice

I bought the GoPro before my trip to the Le Mans Classic last weekend. Just the basic pack with the free HD converter box. I stuck the camera on my rear off side wing for the 4 parade laps and recorded them very nicely in full 1080p. The 4 laps (just over 34 mins) used up 3.6gb of a 16gb chip so if you turn the quality down to 720p the 16gb chip should last you most, if not all, of your trip. Setting up is easy and you can connect the camera direct to your laptop and view your video whenever you want during the trip. I didn't get a remote but have set the camera up for one button on and off and it worked perfectly. Can be bought as a kit for £180 plus memory card from Dogcamsport, where I bought mine.

assuming you want to record the entire trip you'll need a lot of memory cards and the footage would then last as long as the drive. A better option might be time lapse say shoot a image evry 5 minutes then stitch it all together as a short movie, you can add in some posed stationary shots to to make it fun. if thats a goer drop me pm and i'll help with it.

I'll try fixing my gf's camcorder if not I'll get a GoPro, either rent one out or get a used one I saw for less then a 100 quid.
Using pictures isn't that bad an idea but I'll be bringing my laptop and I'm planning on short stops every 3 hours or so, therefore I should be able to unload the recorded video unto the laptop at each stop, will be a bit of hassle but def worth it at the end.
I'll need help when it comes to editing though :-) !
