The bulbs don't make the clicking noise, that comes from the flasher unit.

Has the bulb on the dash blown?

ah yes was suppose to write the bulbs dont flash on the dashboard and the clicking sound from the flasher unit does work so must be something else rather than the bulbs

So the symptom is that the light on the dash is broken.

had another check and the dash lights did work for a moment then went again, but if i leave on indicator on left/right and turn off the car and take the key out then the dashl ight flashes and the clicking noise can be heard.

also at ramdom there will be warnings for door open on the dash when it is closed properly.

i may need an autoelectrician but wont get chance till next week now

there seems to be some fault with the electric, can anyone advise

We had a similar problem with an X5.

Had the instrument cluster rebuilt and it still did it.

Auctioned the car on ebay in the end as it was one of many problems that started to crop up.

had the same problem recently on the missus bmw mini, cause was water ingress into a body control module that was situated in the drivers side lower kick panel.
yours may have a similar unit, indicators went first then the electric windows and locks started going tits up.

Hi steebo

Did you get this problem resolved? If yes how? I'm a little bit gutted because I brought my wife an 02 320d for Christmas and we have exactly the same problems as you 3 days on. It's been very wet here lately! Any advice please as I don't know where to start.

thats great glad it worked

swirl flap removal and changing to vortex oil breather was the first thing i got done as well as cleaning the egr valve.
blank plates came from pmw essex for around £45, oil breather is about £50 via bmwland forum shop section and labour was about £65 from a mechainc mate.

have it checked to see if its all been done already but i do recommend having it done if not as swirl flaps breaking can write off an engine and the old style loo roll oil filter clogging up can end the turbo.

i was also advised to change oil every 6k miles and use shell diesel avoiding morrisions fuel which can clog the injectors
