Ratty Ferrari 330 GT - anyone know the story behind this ??
Discussion
Spotted round the back of a rural Northants pub Saturday evening. Sounded like a bag of spanners. 4 interesting characters got in it, hence chav caps on back shelf ...
DVLA says its 1964 … even had a current tax disc
Not quite sure what 330 GT derivative its supposed to be, it had a filler on the offside rear, and 250 GTE style engine bay side vents.
So, err, … is this a barn find ? … Frankenstein car ? … stunt car ? … nicked ?

Hi there,
I followed this car out of Silverstone on Sunday afternoon.
The guy driving was certainly keeping up with the traffic all the way out of Silverstone right up to the M1 junction at Northampton. It then joined the M1 heading North.
I commented on the condition to my son who said it might be in good mechanical order underneath just the bodywork was tatty.
Regards
Tim

Each time I have attended the Silverstone Classic there has been a ratty silver Dino 308GT4 with paint like sandpaper, a delaminating windscreen and, wonder of wonders,
blue fabric upholstery, probably original. However it was on proper Michelin tyres and the brakes etc looked well maintained, I thought it would be cool to have a ratty original Ferrari rather than a tarted up resale red example, which would probably be just as rusty underneath the paint and filler.
I would have liked to speak to the owner but he was never present, do any PHers know this car?

You can see a couple of his other toys here in posts 19 and 20. Cool. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=...
It's been pictured a lot over the years. I think it's the coolest car in the world.

I get the feeling this is a properly maintained car.
Well you're at least HALF right. What's so clever about neglecting a car? Obviously it's being mechanically maintained or it wouldn't be running, so why not upkeep the rest as well? It doesn't have to be done obsessively.
