Hey guys,

If all goes well and we get the house up for sale in the winter I shall be on the hunt for a new sports car.

My old man suggested the S2000 as a possiblity and after looking into it some more it does appear to have potential plus the added bonus both the wife and I love Jap cars.

The only thing it seems to be lacking is performance. I am sure it is plenty quick enough but coming from 350bhp per ton it might feel a little sluggish to me.

So I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced the Supercharger kit that TTS supply?

I do love tinkering with Jap cars (performace related mods I mean) and will be fitting the kit myself.

My concernes are the effects this would have on the engine character I don't want to drop one of the main appeals of the engine it's ability to scream at 9k rpm.

So anyone fitted a supercharger and regretted it?

A few owners on S2ki have them fitted. There's some build threads on there too:

Hi,

Whilst my experience here isn't with an S2000, one of my close friends has an EP3 Civic Type-R with the K20 engine and a Jackson Racing Supercharger. It's making 306bhp, and has been for about 2 years now. He bought the charger second hand from an owners forum for ~£1200 with all the necessary giblets to fit it, and it's been 100% reliable. The car had around 46K on when it was fitted, and it needed a clutch within about 9 weeks, it had another fitted, and it's been fine since, I believe it's sat on around 67K miles currently.

Character wise, it's one of the best mods to the car, it still screams up to 9K very happily, it runs a Hondata ECU and VTEC has been lowered to 4,400rpm, it's just a really really fun car to drive, the supercharger whine is fantastic. It's also rather brisk.

I'd do it in a flash, I've personally driven about 500 miles in the car, and I never thought it was a bad addition, having driven it both with and without the charger.

Do it!

I find the S2000 does lack straight line speed and have considered a SC. I couldn't fit it myself though, and the cost of getting a kit fitted makes buying a different, faster car a better option.

Very keen to hear about your experiences if you go ahead with it.

That's one of the reasons I thought about the Honda. With a supercharger it should be more reliable and cheaper to run than the Tuscan was. And as we are looking at starting a family having a car that I can work on and service myself would save some coppers and I won't loose the performance.

Had a look at the tts instructions and got to say they are great I wish I had that level of detail when i did work on the supras lol.

Cheers for the link btw that should keep me sane when trying to sell the house

The TTS/Rotrex kit is bolt on. Requires an EMS and some tuning, but not an engine rebuild.

Is a SC a true bolt on? I was always under the impression you had to rebuild the engine and lower the compression? confused

Still, for the money I'd be looking at a Z4M roadster.
The F20C is a solid block, it will take quite a lot of boost in stock form. Some of the chaps with turbos get silly figures on normal internals.

I have a supercharged S2000 for sale at the moment!

Running 11PSI with a Comptech supercharger. Never had a problem - its only 350hp but makes the car what it should have been out of the box.

I would keep it but I have had it since new but a new family calls for something fun with more seats)!

I looked at Z4MRs and they weight nearly 1.5 tons so the power to weight is quite low. Plus running costs seemed to be quite high with the added "M Tax"

I will be doing most of the work myself (apart from mapping) the one thing I missed with the Tuscan was being able to fettle with it smile
