Hi,
This is my first ever post, but been reading the posts on here for months! We are getting the 2 zone climate control based on the information I found on here, we'd assumed climate control was standard.
We have ordered our Boxster S and just need to finalise the options including the colour. It is going to be my car day to day, going to and from work (I'm a girl by the way), so have stuck on things like heated seats and rear & front parking sensors. However my husband wants some fun in it (if I let him) so it has some options I will probably never use as well.
Lets start with the colour, we considered dark blue, black, agate grey and have almost settled on white now, but the white demo we drove was the original carrera white and now the white has changed. Has anyone got any pictures of the new white? Or has anyone ordered in this colour?
Next question is regarding the telephone options - I have full bluetooth in my car at the moment, I jump in and can straight away call up all my contacts, last numbers dialled etc on the screen. I really don't want to make a mistake and get something thats not quite as good. There are 2 options, I think, the telephone module for PCM (more expensive) or the telephone prep. Being a girl its a bit technical for me and I just need to know its going to do what I want it to do, can anyone help with the difference between them?
Options we have currently selected include: Black roof, black leather interior, roll-bar in exterior colour, carbon interior package & wheels painted black PCM, BOSE surround system & loads of other things.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

The white works well from the pictures I've seen.
Get the more expensive PCM phone option - it does the bluetooth and also can control your sim card over bluetooth so will turn your phone radio off to save power. It will also download all your contacts etc and read your texts.

Welcome aboard Letting your husband get involved in the spec could prov expensive! Here is my wife's which as you may work out is pretty much specced my way! She choose colour inside and out and I hinted at the other bits! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...Friends/neighbours/colleagues/ associates seem to have spotted that I have been driving it more than her recently! That will change when my new wheels turn up in a few months Good call on climate control, we also missed that too until somebody pointed it out on here We did opt for the telephone module instead which does everything I would expect but don't know what the lower version does! Mutt and SFO on here or Boxa.net have white and i think the newer white Will all black not be a bit err too black? Are you looking at manual or PDK

Mobile phone preparation (save yourself £100) is all you need unless you actually want to be forever swapping SIM cards around. Works great with most modern smartphones through bluetooth. Yes, you lose a little functionality. But none I've ever missed.
Enjoy choosing the options. It's part of the experience.

We will stick with the Telephone module for PCM - didn't know about the texts.
Thanks to Mutt for your comments on the other thread, very helpful. Sounds like we went through a similar process to you regarding the colour. We are definately going with the white now.
Re the very black interior, we had considered that. We are trying to follow the 2 colours only rule and thought the black and white contrast would work. Plus we used to have an M Roadster that was dark blue outside and all black inside with carbon effect trim, so we kind of know what to expect with that.
Very excited now, just got to wait until October for delivery and find a good home for the 130 LE.

Thanks, but I am under the impression that was just one feature, thought the telephone module gave you full control of the phone through the PCM. I thought that the other option purely allowed the car to work as a headset, which no actual control. We are looking for full integration, not necessarily something everyone wants, but when you've been used to it it's no longer a luxury - partucularly when spending £65k on a car, £100, not really a saving. Can anyone confirm this functionality?

AJ4N - Out of your spec, just make sure that for the "PTV - Mechanical lock differential" you have actually driven a car with the option, preferably in the wet and at speed. Your half a day at Porsche silverstone should allow you to do this.
I would not tick it by default.

Check with the dealer but I think the phone prep allows you to see your addresses on the main PCM screen and make hands free calls. As someone else noted what it doesn't allow you to do is pair more than one phone so you can't switch which phone links up. By comparison the phone module lets you pair several phones so if you have two or more paired phones in the car it defaults to whichever one was last used in the car or you can switch it on the screen menu.
My car has the phone module but i bought as an ex demonstrator. If I was spec speccing then, assuming I got the above right, I would be happy with the phone prep only.

Can anyone confirm this functionality? Mobile phone preparation does give you complete control over the phone from the PCM, including phonebook, three way calling etc. I have had it in my last 3 911s in preference to the Telephone Module so I do have plenty of experience with it. Either option works in a very similar manner. The Telephone Module simply gives you a few extra bells and whistles I wouldn't be interested in. It may be phone sensitive (I've had an iPhone throughout) so get the TM if it gives you a bit of extra confidence. As you say £100 isn't worth getting worked up about. Mind you, that's £300 I've saved simply by buying three 911s. My wife will be pleased.

I would not tick it by default. Why do you say that? Thats one of my hubbies options. We had it on the Z4M, hence why we have ticked it on this one. We won't get an opportunity to drive a Boxster with it before the options are locked down.

This seems to be the most complicated option. The dealer hasn't been very helpful with this one. We use iPhones, but we have 1 each and would both like to jump in to drive and know our phones are working without doing anything. So from the above comments the phone module does everything the phone prep does but more i.e. 2 paired phones?

We both have iPhones and both sync perfectly with car.
You don't get text messages though but I don't see that as a major issue!

Sorry I thought you saying all black with black outside.
White would look good with all that black - look forward to seeing the wheels with white car.

If you want either phone to sync automatically then, yes, I think you want to go with the phone module. Perhaps BnB can confirm if this particular feature comes with phone prep too but I don't think it does. BTW - That's a mighty spec! I guess you're not naive to the fact that. with that many options, you're going to take quite a depreciation hit on the total price? But less of a problem if you're buying for the medium-long term and, either way, enjoy it! I'm actually on my second Boxster with a 135i purchase sandwiched between the two. So a similar switch to you. Think you'll like the Boxster a lot..

There's no SIM swapping involved because I have a second SIM in the car with the same number. When the car phone is on, my calls default to the car but when it's off, the calls come to my handset. This is a pretty comprehensive spec. I was going to ask if there's an option you haven't listed but then noticed that you don't have voice control. For me this is a must because it means I can dial numbers and put destinations into the satnav without taking my hands off the steering wheel.

Thanks again to everyone who has responded, its been a great help.
It is quite a spec but we do plan to keep it for a very long time. We didn't opt for the voice control because we have it on both our cars at the moment and never use it.
Looking forward to seeing the pictures AndyBrew, guess you are still driving it around!
