Hi, Sorry if this question has been asked before but the Search is not working... Can anyone help me on a Tyre question, does anyone have any idea how this can happen!? Blew-out late last night on the M25 coming off the M4, interesting to say the least... I have to say that the two Traffic Police Officers who pulled over in their Ranger Rover to make sure I was 'ok' (whilst checking the Tax Disc, Tyre-ware and I am sure MOT and Insurance status on the PNC with one eye) were great! They helped me work out how the Space Saver and Compressor 'Game' worked, with their torches if anything was rubbing or look like it had collapsed: "We've never done one of these before, funny you should say that, neither have I..." Which was followed by one of them sharing out their hand wipes saying: "Now it looks like a GT3 with that colour Space Saver, well at least that corner does :-)..." Obvious I would not be feeling the same if they just nicked me for Speeding, not that I ever would, but never the less they did not need to help, let alone make a s**t experience quite a laugh... Not such a laugh was the drive back to Bournemouth at 50 ish MPH, my god the length of the M3 at that speed is a very, very long road.. MPG was great though... Anyway, back to my question, any help and advice would be great before I get the new tyres fitted! Steve

It has deflated and run flat on the rim for a while, which cuts through the sidewall. Easy to do at motorway speeds if it deflates quickly.

Hi, Thank you for the relies, what PSI should they be run at, been doing a bit of digging and it has gone from: "What is printed under the Fuel Cap Cover" to "circa 40 PSI..." Very confused...

1. Check the pressure in the other 3 tyres relative to recommended as see is there a significant variation, if there is then it might be that you had an over/ under inflation cause. 2. There s a lot of kerbing danage in the picture, maybe sidewall damage ?

Are there any remains of a nail or something in the tyre?

Hi,
I think Bridgstone's they were on the car when I got it.
I was planning to stick with the same?
Or should I use this to put difference ones on?

Looks like a bridgestone so-2 which is now getting to be quite an old tyre so could just be the rubber perishing and delaminating. BUT i could be wrong check the production date on the sidewall.

Looks like a old tyre which has over heated due to lost psi.

If the others are all the same age, the safest option might be to change the lot!

If you look carefully on the sidewall the date of manufacture will be stated. It will be shown as week and year, so 3010 for example. If you do decide to get rid of your current tyres and the general advice appears to suggest you do, then go for Michelin Pilot Sport 2's.

I've just replaced all 4 so2 bridgestones for the same reason. one of my rears had several splits on the sidewall and they were dated 2005. I changed the lot and was glad i did. When they removed the wheels 2 of the others had cracks inbetween the tread and i hate to think what might of happened. Car is great now with the new boots and i have more confidence

Hi, Thank you all for your help and advise! Had a real good look at the tyre today and it looks like it was a puncture at motorway speeds causing the edge bead to overheated and cut through the side-wall... So, new tyres are about to be fitted but with one of these: http://www.tyresure.comOrdered Friday PM got here today, Monday... Apparently it not only monitors Pressure but also Temperature with Audible Alerts at User Set Levels. The tyre company say they have fitted before so no problem, I will let you know how I get on with it! Can anyone confirm what the Tyre Pressures should be on a car with 18" rims fitted!? Regards Steve
