first stop;

second duty bound stop;

... three hours in the museum (with great food!) on a sunday afternoon was enough, i was more fixed on the next three weeks! so we saddled up and hit the autobahn for lake Constance.. shortly into the first de-zone on the autobahn the white car and i got invloved in an exercise with a pushy local hero in a black RS4 Avant MTM TT (a very fast Audi!).. truth be told he had me but the poke winning white car won @ 193mph.. we soon pulled over to wait for the yellow & green cars who were following.. we thought.......

after a phone call we learnt the yellow car had a problem. the water temp had shot up as they hit the autobahn and pulled over.. on inspection the front center radiator had let go, all coolant lost.. they called for recovery, the green car was with them, we were told to push on!..

next morning we were told the car had been recovered swiftly to the local Stuttgart main dealer, but it would be wednesday at the earliest for a replacement radiator.. (seriously in Stuttgart!!) it was indeed thursday morning before the yellow car was fit for purpose again.. bummer!
the lads did go to Spa on the way home for a glorious weekends racing as consolation...
the green & yellow cars had only planned to do the first week..
next year lads!!

let the games begin!

more pics to follow..

9000 kms door to door..

.. nearly forgot; many many thanks to my best mate, the man, the myth, the Highland legend Andy in his fresh white RS.. leading from the front as ever!
my absolute pleasure to be with, every single mile & every last minute.
a trip we will never forget!!

Ade

I'm going away with the family, taking the 997 to Jura in a couple of weeks time. How do you recommend the Col de la Faucille, I see it was on your list? Any pictures of this area? I'm a euro tour veteran having completed several long tours in our old 996.

Thanks
Paul

Superb bit of Hoonage. Three weeks on the road is serious endurance. Did anyone need to change tyres mid trip?

I'm off with a few other PHers at the end of the month into Europe for 3k miles over 11 days. Taking in the Swiss Alps and then a Megahoon trip around Italy.

That trip looks amazing, Ade! Must post about my week-long jaunt to southern Poland and back. I had coolant issues too, but they were solved much more easily!

Oh, and mmmmm to a bottle of Saumur Champigny - one of my favourite reds. So light and quaffable. Om nom nom.

This is what i should be doing in the GT2 instead of taking to the shows and polishing the bloody thing. Lifes too short for all that garage queen bks.

Looks epic. Nice to see GT3s being used for road trips as well as track and just being left in the garage.
Just done 500 miles in my 996 GT3 Mk2 recently to poole. Some epic driving in the company of more powerfull 997 turbo 997 turbo s and a 997 GT2.

You Definately should. Had a 4 day 1200 mile run with some mates in April
and spa in October. Mines looking like I'll do 7-8k miles a year
