Ok - so the Granturimso is being upgraded to a sport with a bit more poke.

The Stradale is to also get an upgrade later this year, and given the very low sales, do we think they will give dads everywhere what they really want - four seats this time?

No rear seats works for the GT3, surely the real reason for the poor sales is that it doesn't really do what it's says on the tin?

I'm pretty sure rears will be an option. Its not a car I'm considering so I've not read up on it, but I have vauge recollections that it will be an option due to the US complaining.

They buggered up the 42's lights for us, so hopfully they can give us some payback and get rear seats in the Stradale! smile

I've been told it's getting four seats ever since they introduced the car

Heard one going down Park Lane the other day, sounds utterly amazing and thats in comparison to my GT-S. If they put 4 seats in it Maser will have a runaway success.

I would probably have one by now if it had 4 seats. The reason I got rid of the GT3 RS is because I couln't take the kids out in it.

A quick scan of how many left suggests that less than 60 have been sold over the last two years - they had to have higher targets than that for the uk market?

Perhaps that might encourage a rethink on the rear seats!

I'd take 'How Many Left' with a pinch shovel full of salt, more so with specific models. I know on the GranSports, many are shown as Spyders on their V5s when they are not. I suspect many MC Stradale's are shown as GT-Ss or something (though thats a guess!)

Actually, that is showing as 30! The 26 is cars taxed/sorn'd in 2011, the 30 is the total in 2012 (not 26 2011 cars plus 30 2012 cars).

I hope so, they are pretty awsome, I think they should have just aimed it the DBS rather than a GT3.

Paul Green at Maserati UK advises that only 50 MC Stradales will come to the UK. The point of it being a 2 seater is that it's Maserati's GT4 Race Car for the Street, its not meant to be a GranTurismo Sport, it's a luxuriously appointed stripped out road racer, in the same way a 430 Scuderia is a focussed & stripped out F430. I adore mine, they are phenomenal drivers cars and Id urge anyone who gets the opportunity to go drive one!

But its not is it?...ridiculous to compare, the 430 scud is a two seater car fullstop.
I am in the same boat as others, its ridiculous having such a big car with the space for rear seats that is just empty, pointless. A couple of bench seats so you can put your kids in there would hardly weigh much and all of a sudden the market opens up to the rest of us. Get real maserati, not many will use a stradale as a track day car, indeed if any at all do, unlike the porsche GT3 etc, most people would like it as a road going nice sounding beast, so give people the option of basic back seats.
I used to have a bmw csl...those back seats where basic but fine for occasional use, thats what masser should put it the back
When I was in the dealer admiring one, i asked why no back seats option..dealer responded. 'thats the same question everybody who sees it is asking'....hello maserati....demand & supply comes to mind.
If I could get one with the back seats I would be on it like a shot

If you took the time to read my post correctly, before responding, you will note that I was not comparing the MC stradale with a 430 scud, I stated the MC Stradale is a stripped out GranTurismo, in the way a 430 Scud is a stripped out F430...

I agree that a 4 seat version would make better commericial sense, if you want one badly enough you can fit rear seatbelts and use the rear bench seat that is present.

Agree that rather odd having such a huge car with no option of putting in rear seats. If MB can give the option of rear seats in the C63 Black Series (I think that is the case) then why can't Maserati?

I think the point is that a stripped out 430 (or 911) makes sense, as theyll see much track use where losing as much weight as possible is key. But a stripped out GTS does not make sense as its going to be rarely relied upon to be as light as possible. People will buy it more for the idea/looks than for raw purpose. Hence by all means strip bits out, add some mean spoilers, but leave the seats in. It just can't compete in the 2-seater arena.

I agree that had it 4 seats it would make a perfect 4 seater GT car, however, the point of the MC Stradale is they're a Limited Edition 2 seater Maserati based on their stripped out GT4 racing car and I agree in part with their point, that if you want 4 seats you can buy their S or MC shift variants, both have their merits and I have owned 2 MC Shifts previously, however, I bought the MC Stradale for its rawness and to complement her Italian Sister, my Scuderia Spider 16M.

On saying that, a lightweight occasional use bench seat would have made it more useable, for more people, more of the time - myself included.

With regards them not being able to compete in the 2-seater arena IMO you are completely wrong, I have driven mine for almost 6k miles & can testify to them being great cars that compete admirably and effortlessly, but thats my opinion and I respect it is not necessarily yours smile

Aplogies about the 430 scud/430 err, your right I speed read it and got my knickers in a twist, sorry

I am not quite sure if the MCS cuts it or not on the racetrack, never driven one, but I think the point is I wonder how many of the 50 or so that have been sold get used on the track?..I warrant a lot of the GT3's do get bought for that purpose, I dont know why but the MCS on a track, no matter how good it may be, just seems an unusual image to me. I consider it to be a harder edged GTS package. I would like one because i think it sounds great, I like the sports seats better, like the styling. I would expect it to feel a bit quicker & more alive also. I just struggle with buying 2 seater cars that could have 4...same with the merc black 63, ( not sure if you can get rear seats in them or not )
I dont think anyone is criticising the MCS as not been a great car, I think its just frustration that maserati cannot do a simple fix to open it up to those that would like to put a child in the back or whatever.
If BMW can get the weight down on the CSL with the jeremy Clarkson infamous quote about the cardboard boot & no aircon or radio, and still manage to furnish it with occasional rear seats then I am sure maserati can do something

Thank you for your apology smile

Make no mistake, the MC Stradale is a different car to the GTS, whether it be a S or MC Shift variant. The MC is is always on it, in any gear and is glued and I mean glued to the road or track. It never bottoms out and yet the suspension is not overly hard. I cannot recommend them highly enough as proper drivers cars.

I have added a link to the Top Gear MC Stradale review video below, scroll through to circa 3 mins for the start of the review.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Het_GrZVuA

I can understand your frustrations, but if you want a GTS but need a 4 seater Id highly recommend a MC Shift version with the Sportsline Handling Kit, this kit is key as it lowers the standard GTS by 10mm, gives it stiffer anti-roll bars and makes it a very, very capable 4 seater, whilst still being a great drive and having that awesome v8 noise....but if you can have a GTS without the 4 seats then do yourself a favour and have a test drive in their magnificent MC Stradale, I for one will never be selling mine & Id be utterly amazed if you dont buy it once you've driven it! wink

Nice video , great to listen to. Actually I have a 2012 gts with mc handling and mc shift etc, just picked it up couple
Of weeks ago , love it, would like to have had the Option of comparing it to
An mcs, but with a 5 yr old the lack of back seat ruled it out
Had a 458 for a while but found it limiting being only 2 seats, hence gts move
As I say very happy with my car but in the same way I loved the csl in comparison to the std m3, I feel
An mcs would be a similar experience, but 2 seats means no way.... Hence the frustration
