Morrissey: What a wker

Morrissey said:
In a message to fans on his website, the former Smiths frontman wrote: “I am unable to watch the Olympics due to the blustering jingoism that drenches the event. Has England ever been quite so foul with patriotism?
“The ‘dazzling royals’ have, quite naturally, hi-jacked the Olympics for their own empirical needs, and no oppositional voice is allowed in the free press. It is lethal to witness.
“As London is suddenly promoted as a super-wealth brand, the England outside London shivers beneath cutbacks, tight circumstances and economic disasters. Meanwhile the British media present 24-hour coverage of the ‘dazzling royals’, laughing as they lavishly spend, as if such coverage is certain to make British society feel fully whole.

The Smiths' musical legacy is fabulous. Unfortunately, Morrissey has never understood that people liked the Smiths' music and their amusing, clever lyrics. Nobody ever took him seriously as a social or political ocmmentator and he makes a fool of himself just about every time he opens his mouth other than to sing.

I'm not a fan of bonkers jingoistic nonsense or lauding of the Royals who did nothing special other than be born or shag the right people....but have the Royals really been all over the media? I've not seen too much of them.

The only reason papers print his drivel is because they know it'll incense the readers enough to write back. He serves no other purpose

indeed, it's sometimes almost embarrassing to enjoy his music knowing the personality behind it!

All dead

Morrisey still breathing

Proof that god does not exist.

Edit: or proof that God does exist and even he despises the talentless insufferable little runt.

Morrisey lives in the USA the land of patriotism and home of jingoism. Which makes his rant even more laughable.

yes

Also his pauper status really underpins all the rhetoric about economic nhard times suffering.

He's entitled to comment of course, but it would be better for him not to...

Don't be harsh, I am sure he has no money and lives the life of a pauper rather than lavishly spending like the Royal family.........

In all honesty I never took him seriously as a song writer or musician, either.

The Smiths were different and engendered a touching loyalty but real musical/lyrical talent? Well it's all subjective I suppose.

What a twunt. I've watched quite a bit of the olympics and haven't seen a royal yet. Most people from whatever country are proud of it, I've seen winners from GB, USA, Jamaica etc approriately waving flags. I think this is a bit of journalistic trolling - it's not like Morrissey has any status beyond Z-list celeb of yesteryear.
