In simple terms what’s the difference? Other than price and name is there a real difference in them?

I’m after some new shocks as the original are in need of replacing after 13 years. I know that theres loads of info floating around here about gaz and nitrons and other types of shocks but I was just after a simple, no fuss answer.

Also as I just drive the car, I don’t track it or race it are the golds all I need, or is it worth paying the little bit extra and going for the pros. (I found one company that is selling the golds for £579 inc vat and one company selling the pros at £599 inc vat)

All and any simple answers would be great.

No experience of either but for only £20 more I'd be buying the Pro's - why wouldn't you for £20 more?

I believe the 'pros' have a better surface finish - so stay looking better for longer. All IMHO.

Yes but nitrons are atleast £600 more. Unless I can just buy nitrons for £6-700 I'd do that but I can't seem to find an independent stocker.

The chims going in for a new chassis so as there taking shocks off I figured they may as well put new ones on.

Had Gaz Golds Pro's on my T350 - really improved the handling. Don't know what the xtra £20 is for, but just for road use, I couldn't justify twice the price for Nitrons.

You also have to consider the bushes when replacing the standard suspension with Gaz Golds Pros.

There really is no benefit putting on new dampers and springs on tired bushes.

I'm talking to Richard at RT Racing about doing my chim with GG Pros, he advised new buses all round if you want the best set-up. Other advise included not to use polybushes as they collapse to quickly with GG Pros.

I thought they only made the pros now anyway.

I had pros and now mono,s and they were both good quality IMO with good service.

The monos are a serious kit though, light years ahead of the pros IMO.

Yes I've been reading it for a while now. I think alot of the problems have been solved. I know that gaz has a good and bad reputation when it comes to tvr and ph in general but as nitrons are way to much. The other option is go for original shocks, they have fine for 13 years so I'm sure they would be fine for another couple of years.

The Gold pro are the latest spec shocks with spherical bearings, they are £625 normally and I would buy off somebody involved with TVR rather than some of the internet based companies working from home because its me that has to pick up the pieces when it all goes wrong.
Talk to Dom at TVR Power,Track V Road or somebody like that because it will be right first time.

This. I had my Gaz Gold Pros fitted by Dom and his crew, set up as "fast road spec". Truly transformed the handling of the car and wanted me to be 100% happy before I drove the car away. Excellent service and a 2 year warranty to boot thumbup

Top advice - use an expert. I have read so many posts from people trying to set their own up and ending up with a car with all the handling of Churchill's dog.

My Tamora has Gaz Gold Pro fitted and set-up by Track V Road a year ago.

I was happy with the handling, and when Colin from CAT driver training drove the car on a skid pan at Millbrook he said it was set how he liked his cars.

For my needs, the simple compression / rebound damping on one control seems to work well.

Congratulations. Well done. Another highly viable option for TVR upgrades. clap

I'm also happy to say that we have them on most TVR's including a Saggy and various LS engined and SC cars.

Never experienced nitrons, but I went from tired standard shocks to GGPs and was very happy. I've heard people say they don't compare to Nitrons, and perhaps they don't, but I'm happy to live in ignorance for now.
